Pep's contract situation

Why?

This was always the case btw, and always made sense.

The guy is a director of football, at a top European club. He is not an apprentice joiner that needs to shadow Txiki for 6 months to learn the basics.

It was one of the daftest claims by ITKs/KFAs for some time.
He was due to start in January and have a period alongside Txiki.

If both Txiki and Pep leave at the same time it's far from ideal

Said some nobody on twitter. He was never due such a thing.

Both our club's statement, and Sporting's said summer.

January was never a believable scenario. Two active directors of football at a club? And 0 at Sporting! Aye sure.

The nobody that said he would join in February was one Ruben Dias but as you were.

Not sure about that. I would rather he was working for us than Sporting. I would see his role as transition rather than as you put it one of apprenticeship. We could now be caught between a rock and a hard place as many transfers take months to ferment. We could have the new man arriving before deals are completed. Also what about potential conflicts of interest between now and June. United insisted their manager rocked up immediately perhaps we should have done the same.

I’m pretty sure our interests will be paramount in the back of the new DOF’s mind.

Tkiki will be fine on his own - he’s managed for many years :-)

1: Has Guardiola always worked with at least some individuals that were transferred together with him to all the clubs he has so far managed? What are those individuals and what is their contract status?
Or,
2: Is Guardiola ok to work alone? Has he always worked alone and is he OK to work with new backroom/assistant people? Does he hold all of his own expertise, tactical and when it comes to transfers?

I don't know but I suppose it is the #2 above.
