Pep's contract situation

this has got to make any transfer negotiations an awful lot easier, reckon we'll have our targets wrapped up quick smart

Ederson and now Pep, great news. Our opponents will hate this almost as much as we love it.

The fact that these deals are done and will have been put together over a few weeks gives me
confidence that our transfers will be done swiftly and exactly as Pep wants.

The reason this will be Pep's longest tenure as manager is that the whole club is built around and for Pep. This is Project Pep as much as it is Project Abu Dhabi or Project City. This is Pep in his unquestioned element. Here, there is no club politics or overweening football aristocracy to interfere with his overwhelming passion, and that is of course football. There are no great managers from the past to share in what is being built. It is all Pep. Pep knows this, Pep loves this. This is Pep's baby.
IMO, it was non football pressures that contributed to Pep not staying at Barca and Bayern. The burn out and pressure excuse was just a getout. In 2021 he will have been in continuous management for 8 seasons so that will put paid to the myth that he burns out and needs a rest every few seasons.
I think Pep loves the freedom he is given at City and probably feels that he has found his home. He knows he will never have it so good at any other club in the world.
I won't be surprised if he is still here in 2022.
