The whole Messi saga and chasing him and then his that fell down like a wet blanket in the end has derailed the whole summer ... that whole we want to fight to get our title back spirit and since that Lyon defeat being the last game we played we’ve kind of sleep walked into the new season ... not having a game last week when others did also doesn’t help that by the time we kick off there’d be team sitting on 6 points already ... but biggest downfall this summer was the Messi saga and that’s effected everyone including Pep.

Barca only won the Copa in his final season. That would be equivalent of City winning the FA Cup, which after last season would be underwhelming.

I mean trophies wise it was low but the players still performed at a very high level. Unlucky to be knocked out in CL and league wise also they got 91 points vs 100 of real madrid (so not bad). There was not much evidence of players buckling or being demotivated..same in bayern also CL they were incredibly motivated.

Like I said there were roumours in Catalan Press that he announce his decision in December January

i was looking for a comparison with Sane, so I'll read between the lines and say they are equal on those points.

Every player we sign makes a point of indicating the Pep effect is the biggest draw, if Torres was really wanted by the big two Spanish sides amongst others but picked us with Pep being a big swinging factor then surely he would have been looking for some kind of commitment from Pep to being his manager for more than 9 months before signing.

A decision and announcement on this really should have been made this summer. Even if something has been agreed in private one way or the other starting the season like this just fuels constant speculation and it can have an impact when things are not going exactly how we would want, we try very hard not to let it happen with players so why have we let it happen with our manager?

Even if he’s not sure about staying for whatever reason just get a 12 month extension signed and add in a break clause (a legally binding one) that doesn’t get made public

But why is this, where has this come from? There was great optimism at the start of the window, weren’t we supposed to be signing up to 5 players, to be making a statement this time? And why the apathy from a club perspective. What has changed since the Chairmans end of season statement?

Agreed, something has changed, this is going to be a long difficult season unless we make signings in the next few weeks and unless the club has kept things very quite, I can't see them happening!
