Pep's contract situation

Pep Guardiola on reasons for staying at #ManCity: "One of the main ones was my conversations with Khaldoon. The club, especially this season, how the club asked in the difficult period. The club didn't ask the government for furlough, didn't fire one person..."
Peps come out with the right notes for me on this one
Proud of him for mentioning this and my club for never doing "furlough "

I've read a lot about why Pep renewed and about why the club wanted him to renew. Txiki has told us about how hard Pep works to fathom ways of dealing with the opposition and we've seen the clear evidence of this. But I could study what Pep has done till the cows come home and I still wouldn't be able to tell you how he'd done it and his results show that opposition managers are almost as in the dark as I am. So, why I'm so thrilled he's renewed, and, I suspect, why so many on here are too, is simply that Pep is a football genius whose understanding of the game is simply in a different universe to ours and what he serves up for us every week is nothing other than the de luxe version of the beautiful game.

Great news. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy to sign unless he had absolute confidence in his ability, to keep getting results, to overhaul the squad, to have the backing of board and fans.

He looked happy in the interview. So many to take from this. Pep for 3 more years will make it easier to sign the players we need. I think he has more of a draw than any other manager in football. I’m over the moon at the news. And I wonder if this sets us up to do some business in Jan?

Clubs trying to balance the books may well be willing to sell. I agree he is a big draw for players.

Three years ago there were 3 young players about to graduate from our academy who Khaldoon said he wanted to see in our first team squad: Sancho, Diaz, and Foden.
Sancho refused to sign unless Pep assured him of a regular spot on the team. He started well in Germany but has slowed somewhat this year. His last two England outings have not been great.
Diaz left and seems to have sunk almost without trace.
Foden stayed, and despite calls from 'experts' in the press, Pep kept him on a learning curve and made sure he added some muscle to his slight frame.
Foden now doing well in an England shirt.
This will not have gone unnoticed in football circles and those responsible for advising young men.

So after ages being asked questions about his contract whether he's staying every press conference now he's just gonna be asked about Messi everyday

Exactly, we could be in for a decent Jan window. Apart from Laporte and Dzeko, I can’t remember us doing much worthwhile business in Jan over the years. But with clubs struggling to balance books this year we could see some really good deals on the table.
It’d be great if we can, would mean Pep and the board realise there’s some issues need to be addressed in the squad too.

Alternatively, might not happen.
But with the squad needing a bit of freshening up, it would make sense if we can get some of our targets in Jan if they’re available. Giving them a few months to bed in. Instead of next season being potentially a transitional one should there be overhaul of summer signings.

In the last few weeks it felt like this chapter was coming to an end. I don’t like the feeling. I’m not ready for someone else’s playing style and football philosophy. Now we’re back on track. Just to add, we’ve been totally spoilt as a fan base by the football we’ve seen since the take over, and in particular the Pep era. We’re privileged to have been watching this City team, and now we’ve another 3 years. I’m just delighted
