Pep's contract situation

If you are trying to hammer out a contract with another manager Pep saying nothing gives us cover while we cut a deal. It is always better to work without the press swooning.

Might seem weird to say, but i'm not sure i see the benefit to the club if Pep extends for 1 more year. Now could be a good time to start fresh, and actually plan for the next 5-10 years. Instead of a season in which every man and their dog knows its gonna be his last.

Because the club have to make plans without letting every other club know. They can’t “let the fans know” without telling the whole world
