Perseid Meteor Shower started 16th July until August 23rd, at Peak August 11th-13th

Anybody see the meteor last night? I'm in Manchester and at about 10.20pm you could see it burn up in the atmosphere. Incredible.
No damn it! I was looking out for a bit but it was later than that. -(

Persieds started last night so probably one of them. Great time to be out looking on these warm, clear nights...

Just genuinely happened to be out in the garden and saw it. Was genuinely incredible. Will keep another watchful eye out tonight.

If you keep an eye out for a while, you'll probably see at least another one. some are bigger than others and I've seen some belters that seemed to explode and give different colours as they disintegrate.

Good luck!

I stayed out looking but didn't see anything.

Well tell a lie I seen the space station and a satellite pass so it wasn't that bad.
Will be out tonight stargazing again.

Which direction should I be looking ( and don't say up )
They're named after the constellation of Perseus which will be in a northerly direction from Manchester tonight. However they can appear anywhere in the sky, I tend to see them travelling north to west but didn't see any last night. They don't peak until 12th August.

Look out for the space station again just after 11:30 and Jupiter and Saturn rising from the southern horizon.

I use the Heavens Above app and SkyMap app on Android. Takes a while to get used to them but they're handy.
