Peter Drury replaces Martin Tyler on Sky Sports

As I said, he can be an absolute prick when commentating. Loves the establishment clubs. Nonsense to say he wasn’t excited at 93:20 though. It was a commentator’s dream.

this.

I think agueroooooooo is possibly the second most well known bit of commentary ever, behind (of course) ‘They think it’s all over. It is now.’ If any single piece of commentary will make Tyler immortal, it’s that moment.

anyone who can’t tell he’s far more excited about a routine dipper goal than one of ours needs to give their head a wobble. But the professional in him, when his career is done will probably pick the 93-20 out as the absolute pinnacle of his professional career.

Quite.. ‘Professional’ he may be but the bias has been manifest for years.. David Silva’s equaliser at Anfield in 2014 showed exactly where he’d nailed his colours to the mast.. And as others point out in this thread, he’s not the only one in the English football media. They should be ashamed of themselves, displaying such partiality when their role should be to enable all of us to enjoy great football moments.. Bring back Kenneth Wolstenholme and Barry Davies, I say!

fuck that, blue. If we’re bringing anyone back I want Gerald Sinstadt.

I think the most surprising thing for me was that Jonathan Pearce apparently isn’t the biggest sexual deviant in the football commentary community.

I remember once hearing scurrilous allegations about ITVs Brian Moore and a substantial quantity of Columbian marching powder.

scandalous old world they inhabit.
Allegedly.
