In my opinion the best commentator on tv is ex Capital Radio presenter Jonathon Pearce. Tells it how it is, extremely neutral, players /managers trust him. His commentary for Motd for our game against Palace was superb, sky should bin Tyler and sign up Pearce. Have to say the Palace fans were amazing again last night deffo their 12th man.
Don't usually like that shouty prickly Pearce but he was pretty good last night. Maybe something to do with him being a Palace fan.

He should be an Argyle fan.

Jonathan Pearce is definitely a Bristol City fan. Has said soa few times on Radio 5 Live and does hark back now and again to their best ever side that was in the First Division (the REAL First Division what we are in now) back in the 70s.

He's a bit shouty for me at times, but he is very knowledgeable, not biased (other than to England!) and he had a terrific line last night re Gerrard whining about his dive not getting a penalty "Sometimes what goes around comes around in football". Quite. Top man.

Yes, Palace fans were terrific. had a quiet spell for 10 mins at 0-3 but other than that mightily impressive. Love that Glad All Over they come out to. really gets 'em going.

Im not having he was pro scouse tonight - screamed like a girl when Gayle equalised!

His inane witterings about atmosphere on Saturday got right on my tits though - like it was some form of conspiracy.
He talked through our goals like he was discussing his mums funeral and celebrated the Everton opener (fine goal though it was) like he was from Elmsmere Port.

HIs aguerroooo moment will live with us forever like "Dreams come true in blue" when Vinny lifted the trophy. So fair play in some respects.
Wonder if he's got any plans for this year if we win it again.

No doubt the script for the 2 hour Liverpool Special "How we are the best ever Premier League Champions" has already been written with appropriate references throughout about Stevie Starfish.(Currently on hold) along with a stream of sycophantic soundbites of how God wanted them to win it as well as every football supporter in the country.
Heres hoping it never gets aired and finds a good home with "Liverpool - Premier League Champions 2013-2014" T shirts

This is the issue with Tyler. He does make good commentary, and come across as impartial, when it's an amazing game like last night or QPR. I think that's the professional side of him that keeps him in work. It's the inane drivel that he and Clive Tyldesley spout at other times. Take Saturday's game (and I'm paraphrasing here) ...

First half: "You have to think if Aguero had been fit all season, City would have won the league by now".

Second half: "You have to wonder why City aren't clear of the rest by now".

... and the incessant references to the same thing (usually something about Giggs - how old/how many games/where we were when etc, etc)

MOTD is ten mins highlights, not sure I could cope with 90 mins of him.

Correct, just checked. His son is a Palace fan so must be his London or local team !

I remember him having a good relationship with Joe Royle, which ties in with Bristol City, and was flattering to City in those days

I've always got the impression Pearce had a soft spot for Palace - now I know why! Cheers pal.

I had 2 years of loathing Crystal Palace's team (not the fans). remember that game when Coppell's thugs kicked our young side off the park in 87/88? We'd taken the lead in a tight game on the hour (Lakey IIRC) and they just started kicking and niggling, and that dirty B*****d Bright went in studs up on Eric Nixon. He tried it again and Nixon was ready...and landed a proper haymaker on him. Bright broke his collar bone, Nixon was sent off, prompting Mel Machin to say "My goalkeeper is a prat". Anyway City fell apart - Stevey Redmond went in goal they scored the pen, and we fell to pieces and lost 1-3. City's promotion push collapsed and we couldn't buy a win for a while. Palace were a right bunch of niggly thugs - players like Alan Pardew and Bright - but they had one class player - ian Wright. I forgave em when they got to the Cup Final which they sadly lost to someone whose name I don't care to recall. If they'd won that final, history would have been very different.

Anyway, I digress... (fed up of talking about that cretin Tyler!)

Luckily, I'm fortunate to not have a Sky subscription.

I have heard his commentary on us this season because I watch some matches online.

I just know that he would have been on the verge of tears as Palace equalised.

He is actually a horrible old twat.
HE IS A NONSE

At 3-3 tonight, Bolasie cut inside and smacked it out for a goal kick, to which Tyler gasped and said "if he'd just remained calm there, if he just remained calm!".

I'm not for one minute saying he isn't anti-City or pro-whoever we're playing...but there have been loads of examples where he just wants the underdog to win. He clearly wanted Palace to get an equaliser when they'd got it to 2-3 and then clearly wanted Palace to win when they were in the ascendancy and had got it to 3-3 tonight.

utter bollocks
