This will be like the Margaret Thatcher threads apart from the fact that some people DO have a good word for Thatcher.
He was an umitigated disaster for this club and I don't think many will defend him, nice guy or not.

Can't have a good word for anyone who gave the go ahead for the monstrosity which was the seated Kippax and the rebuilt North Stand, (or Platt Lane, whichever). Nor can I have anything good to say about someone who hired a guy, (Maddock), for the sole purpose of sacking Reid. Nobhead Swales in my eyes.

Never met the man, but I don't think I'll ever remember him with any great affection.

Would have made an excellent store manager at Netto in Bury. Organised chaos and empty cardboard box hazards were right at his level. Football clubs weren't.

I remember start of 1980 season (I think) ,Keegans back at Southampton V City, I had not missed a game the previous season but didn`t have a ticket for the game. My girlfreind at the time wrote him a letter begging him to let me have a ticket.
Weeks later he replied with a ticket for the away end saying "hopes he enjoyes the game".
Met him Later that year at a supporters club function and thanked him, he said he remembered the letter and sent the ticket because he was impressed at the lengths I went to to attend games (missing my girlfreinds brothers wedding was one that impressed him most), though for me it was a no brainer.
All in all I think he was a big blue, who just lost the plot, let his heart rule his head and will be remembered as one of the worst chairman this club has ever had.
Nice enough guy though.

I always thought he was incapable as a chairman of a football club and fucked us up big style but he didn't do it deliberately, he was a big blue and had city in his heart. Unfortunately he was a fuck up.
