PFA nominations are out

Don't bank on Pep winning. In 2002, we played sensational football (in 2nd tier), ended 10 points ahead of WBA (who won no end of games 1-0), and scored over 40 goals more than them.
The manager who won the award for our division was..... boring Gary Megson, of WBA

Haha did KK not win it that year??!!!

think tbf...the slight dip of kev in form beginning of the year around the voting period and coupled with the form of salah when he was scoring nearly every game ...tilted in his favor.

Agree with this, Salah won POTM in Feb & March, think the games over Christmas and January caught up with a few of our players, Liverpool had fewer games in Jan/early Feb so were then fresher.

But if they had Harry Kane, they would likely have at least the same points.
And if we had Isco we would have too. But I am not talking about replacing them with equals I am trying to see who would have suffered more if the our respective star player had been unable to play.

What I mean is, that the POTY shouldn't be given to some geezer who scores the most goals, that should be the one specific award for that achievement.

If he had also brought them a title, then of couse he would deserve it.

He hasn't & imo he wouldn't have the award, if Liverppol were title winners & KDB played for them & Salah played for us in 3rd place. In fact he wouldn't even be considered & there would be uproar if he won it.

It then begs the question can a player only ever be the best player in the league that season if they have won the title?

Any Season awards voted for and given out before the season has ended are not worth winning.

I have always thought this to.

salah has been fantastic and a real handful so it has gone to an outstanding player, can we sign him next year ? don't see why not because apparently when you have lots of money it is easy to sign what ever players you want and win titles !

But I don't agree with the decision, KDB has been the "footballer of the year" quite easily. Every season this award shows some sort of flow so takes away the value. I am not being bias in any way because I am a city fan just think the voters don't know what being a "footballer" quite is. If you spoke to the top 10 managers and players around EUROPE then KDB would have won.

Its not quite as bad as when pellers won the league and cup double for city in his first season but yet Rodgers got the manager of the season then sacked year after !! That did take the biscuit that one !

I would say no, in most normal campaigns but when you have a team, that has played at a completely different level, to every other team in the league, not just in that season but in the history of the competition, surely it has to weigh in the favour of the best player in said team? If City finish on 96+ points, which at this point looks extremely likely. how can it be ignored? Its all well and good Salah scoring x amount of goals and he has been very impressive but I think in this instance you have to take into account how superior City have been to every other side in the league and KDB has been a huge factor in that.

Additionally, look at the World Player of the Year accolade, rightly or wrongly, it almost always goes to the best player, in the team that wins the biggest trophies. In this country, there appears to be some weird obsession in celebrating failure/plucky losers.
