I know we've spoken about this before but it's exactly what Spurs did with Winks.

Harry Winks played 35 times for Spurs last season and in 15/16.

23 were sub appearances. 15 of those were <15 minutes long. 7 were in games Spurs were winning by 2 or more goals.

9 of the 12 starts were in the EFL cup, FA Cup, Europa or a dead rubber CL game after Spurs were already going out.

He was eased in, slowly getting used to the pace of senior football, slowly getting used to playing with his teammates, and earning Pochettino's trust. Now a year later he's pretty much a senior player, picked to start in both Madrid games and performing very well, a bit timid in the first game, but very influential in the win last week.

Harry Winks is 4 years older than Foden yep that’s right 4 years

That's all it needs & is effectively what I've just commented on Sancho doing, in that thread. Ten mins v Bayern Munich. Brilliant for him.

That's all Foden & Diaz need, here & there, for now. If it means a senior player misses a day on the bench: tough, they can play the week after.

And Harry Winks isn't the most talented player of his generation.

Harry Winks wasnt declared to be part of the Spurs first team squad at 17.

Harry Winks wasnt put on the bench several times at 16.

Foden is at an age where dozens of players have come through into the premier league, that's all that matters.

Foden is very young.

What needs to happen, is what didn't happen with most of the other kids in recent years; that he starts to get 'some' game time even if it's just in 10 min spells & not just one game, but several. And he should alternate with Diaz, provided Diaz' form continues.

Then we can see how he does. If he's exceptional, then he should become the priority above Yaya, Gundogan, Bernardo, whoever. If he's 'ok' he should get on regularly in lesser games. If he's nowhere near, then back to EDS for a while.

If any of our kids turn in a top performance for the first team, they should move up the pecking order. It would be unfortunate for one or two senior players, but that's what should happen.
Pretty much what i was thinking..

There's no way he's physically ready to play regularly in the Prem at the moment.

Needs to fill his body out a bit, work on strength & agility before he starts playing with the big boys.
Absolute rubbish. He is a strong tackler of the ball, does not like to lose it, and has great body strength for one so small.his midfield play is tigerish, attritional
Disciplined and composed,as well as being highly skilful...what more could you want from a central midfield player?

Somehow we need to find a spot for him on the bench, not an easy task at all as in most cases we will have Bravo & Mangala taking up two spots ( Not forgetting Kompany ).

This then leaves, 4 spots available, currently 3 of these are usually taken up with B.Silva, Yaya, Gundogan.

Depending on our formation or rotation we also have one of, Aguero, Jesus, Sane or Sterling taking the final spot.

The obvious player to drop would be Yaya but can Foden do the role that we would expect of Yaya if he was called upon?
