In his few appearances now, he seems to have already grown up, the first time we saw him in the first team, he looked like a kid and out of his depth, but he's already looking much more confident about himself and doing what the grown ups do.

I thought he was quite impressive last night, I'd also like to see him get a game or two with Fernandhino, KdB, and David Silva, he'll learn a lot.

It was also nice to see the trio of him, Zinchenko, and Diaz linking well together.

The kids got talent. I just worry for him. The media attention he is getting already and he is only cutting his teeth in man football. Yes put him up against players his own age and he has shown he is the stand out. I hope the club manage him well. We seen it past at the club how we seen a young kid coming up and then just gets the limelight and fades and never recovers from it in Michael Johnson he had the football world at his feet when he broke into the team but look how that ended. The pressure of being Englands next big thing is hard for any footballer to take on I just hope mentally he is up to it as if he is then he will be a talented player for years to come be it here or somewhere else.

Fortunately I think he has the perfect mentor in Guardiola to keep him grounded. There are lots of other talented English players around some of whom play every week. There isnt any pressure at the moment for him to do well. The u20 team are the next crop people are looking to and focus will be on them ahead of the world cup to see if any make the team. Foden is 17 and unless he plays for the first team more often than not to the end of the season he just will not make that team so he can still remain under the radar for now.

On the flip side, youth and confidence often go hand in hand. He hasnt had many negative experiences that cause him to dpubt himself or change his style of play the way we have seen with Sterling and Stones who both suffered somewhat.

Young players get overhyped then inevitably have a dip in form and get over criticised. Players can just be very good but inconsistent. The majority are just that. We cannot expect more from a 17 year old so as fans we must do our job amd support him regardless of how well he plays. With our help and that from the club and Pep he can be a great player. Wilshere looked as good at the same age although wasnt as much of a threat on goal. Look what happened to him.

With respect, the club was ruining its young players itself, by surrounding them with rubbish, and loading expectation onto their shoulders.

I can't see that happening to Foden, as he won't be expected to by the lone star next season, he is already surrounded by huge talent, and instead having to carry the rubbish on his shoulders, he can soak up the talent and ideas around him, and learn, its a very different situation to the one Johnson faced.

Really interesting viewing this. He did better than I remembered tbh. Lots of nice encouraging little moments. Some naivety, yes, of course, but lots of intelligent movement and plenty of confidence, plus a couple of moments of genuine skill.... and he's only 17. Brilliant.

On crutches and looks like his left foot in a boot, hopefully only precautionary

4:50 doesn't look too good...
Maguire is a big fella.
At this point some on here shouldn't forget Foden is just 17.
Good to know Pep takes care without any hurry.

What would be really good for Foden & Diaz next, is if they could get on vs some teams we are hammering & join in with the star players, knocking a few late goals in.

Not necessarily both together, could be different games, but it would be nice to see them joining in with the waves of attack & licence to entertain, rather than having to be 'professional' & not take chances.

Yep. First thing that crossed my mind when we got the penalty against spurs was "get Foden on". They were a beaten side as soon as the second went in really.

I can understand the extra caution vs a side with Spurs uncanny knack of turning fuck all into goals though.

If we can keep going as we are doing, for a little while longer, it could be great news for the young players, as we will be more willing to 'chance' bringing them on at 2-0 & rest the seniors for euro games, biggest Prem games etc.
