Capello rates him higher than Richards and Ferguson paid 18m Pound for him, which tells you he is not that bad !

If I'm honest, I rated him highly whenever I saw him last year (not often, admittedly) and I was disappointed that he went to the rags.

all good games he played for United were when he played in the middle.. he looked as amateur in all games he played at back I watched

Started the season playing mainly at full-back, put it some decent performances for a 19 year old, probably most notably at Bolton. The few times he played in the centre, he was pretty woeful. Particularly with Ferdinand.
Was moved into central midfield due to injuries mainly, and was quality in a few games. Yesterday was the first game he's played where he hasn't done a single thing of class. He's been off form for weeks, but the derby was the worst I've seen him play.
Been used in different positions, which I'm hoping will aid his development, and I can see him becoming a quality central midfielder in the future. Interestingly, he's quoted as saying that he prefers himself playing in central defence. I don't. With Rio, he's played 4 games at CB, conceding 9 goals, in 3 draws and 1 loss.
As I said, he's only 19 though. Time on his side and all that.
