Why not try one of the simpler programs ? I use a variety of software depending on what I want to do. Some are 'free to try' others are totally free. A google search will also get some others. In truth there's a lot of Photoshop I don't use either.

Look for : Paint.net / Gimp / Play With Pictures / Be Funky / Photoshop / etc
