What about room 55 of a hotel that is based on 5th avenue?
Well I thought it would be clear from my previous post that room 55 is acceptable, but Fifth Avenue is a location I have always shunned whenever visiting New York. I always tell cab drivers to avoid it when taking me round the city. When I tell them why, once again that same look of complete respect crosses their faces. Most buildings in New York don't have a thirteenth floor and I have often contemplated how many more blues would visit their city if they extended this to cover the number five.

Now this thread DEFINITELY has to go into Classics. I am contacting a Mod. Which Mod is number 5 Mod?

Ducado. It's always Ducado, EB.

Then Ducado it shall be. :-)

I personally think its a fucking disgrace.

I have, for some considerable time, eschewed the number five completely, such is my hardcore uber-blue status. This includes refusing to carry five pound notes or five pence coins and declining to sing "do-do-do Pablo Zabaleta"when he's got that number on display (not when he's wearing a tracksuit top, obviously). Whenever I'm booking into a hotel I inform them that I will refuse to stay in room number five and the reason why. The look of respect that I always get for this makes it all worthwhile.

Does this principle cause me inconvenience? Of course it does, but sometimes you've got to stand up for what you believe.
I don't mean to question your uber-blue massiveness, but someone who claims to be the bestest and biggerist blue in the world, perhaps even bluer than el hombre, would've waited until 6am to post? The amount of 5's in the time stamp of when you chose to post such a fine comment leaves me, well, well it leaves my scratching me chin and questioning just how blue you actually are if the truth be told.
It would only count if it was 5am exactly, when I do, in actual fact always stop posting for a minute as a matter of course. The same principle applies, for example, to hotel rooms: I am perfectly content to stay in room fifteen, for example.

To extend this ban to include every number with a five in it would be ridiculous.
Rag twat.

That would be a really good example had Lizarazu (sp?) not worn the number 69. Or if Rio Ferdinand and Utd been the only clubs with a number 5 in the squad.

And what happened when Lizarazu wore the number 69? Did people think 'oh it's just a number the number 69 means nothing'? Nope. They questioned it and he had to try and clarify it, saying that he was born in 69 and his height and weight end in 69. Whether that is bollocks or not is irrelevant - point is with certain things there are more to it than meets the (uneducated) eye. Just like having a number 5 on a cap means nothing, having a number 5 on a rio ferdinand is obviously related to his man united shirt number

As for the CR7 link, he is known by CR7, no one refers to Rio as "5" do they?

No but when it's on an item of his clothing range it's a blatant reference to his man united squad number. You might struggle to relate the two, but it's a pretty obvious link

Would I wear it to the match? Nope, because football fans, as proven in this thread, are as small-minded as it gets and the hassle wouldn't be worth it.

So if you were guaranteed not to get any hassle for it, you'd happily wear ferdinands hat with ferdinands man united squad number to a City game?
I would yeah if I wore caps (I don't as I am not a chav).

I'm honestly not quite sure what to make of that. I think that itself shows how different our views are on the matter. If your happy turning up to a City game with a rio ferdinand cap with his man united squad number on it then each to their own I suppose, it shows how much our views differ on the matter. I think there's a reason Pigeonho thinks the hassle isn't worth it and although he might try to belittle football fans as being 'as small-minded as it gets' I'd beg to differ. Personally it would go against quite a lot I've ever thought about supporting City and the game and I'd think that someone who'd do that has a distinct lack of understanding of how the football world works. Maybe it's a modern football fan thing, but if my 15 year old nephew turned up to a City game with a ferdinand hat and his squad number on it I'd stick it up his arse, although that isn't a worry for me because my 15 year old nephew knows better.

And I'm not sure if I've missed it but I asked you a couple of times and got no answer Pigeonho so I'll ask again - fashion sense aside, would you wear ferdinands man united squad number to a City game?

A modern fan thing? I am older than you fella am I not and if not I am certainly of your generation and had my first season ticket at 5. Don't talk bollocks. It is nothing to do with being a "modern fan" and everything to do with being able to separate football tribalism from supposed "fashion".

Nothing wrong with him choosing to wear Wio's clothes if he thinks it's "fashion" - and lets face it, him and Lescott have strange ideas about what that is. It's no big deal - and what he wears down Panacea or Australasia is entirely his own business; but he should have a bit more awareness about wearing a rival players brand when representing the club.

But he doesn't see him as a rival off the pitch. They are good mates.

People seem to forget that they are only enemies during the 90 minutes of a game of football, nothing more.

May I also add as it needs repeating, he is wearing a frigging cap. He is not sucking off Fred the Red Devil or whatever the fuck their mascot is named.

The Club see United as rivals, the fans see United as rivals. If Micah doesn't get the rivalry well you and he are very lucky. Personally I can't stand them or anything about them or associated with them - and not just for 90 mins.
Does it affect my support for Micah - no - but it calls into quesion his awareness and to a lesser degree, judgment - if indeed he made one.
Does it matter in the scheme of life? - clearly not.
Would I rather he hadn't worn Wio's brand on the official site whilst representing the club? - yes.

Fellatio with Fred the Red? - think you got carried away.

It was just one of my theories, as I said I don't know what to make of it and find it difficult to understand. And because your older doesn't necessarily mean you've been following football for long, and to me wearing a ferdinand cap with his united squad number to a City game would imply that the person wearing the cap knows little or nothing about football and is unaware of what their clothing actually represents, which would probably mean that this person hasn't been a football fan for long. It's the sort of thing I might expect form a tourist who's come to their first game and has no idea about anything that's going on, at all.

I also see separating football tribalism from fashion as impossible when the fashion item in question has a distinct link to football considering it is made by a footballer and has the footballers squad number that he's worn for the past decade for our rivals displayed quite prominently on the front of it. Now if you fancy yourself as a fashionista as you've made out then you might look at the hat on the OS with the '5' on it and think little more of it than whether you think that hat is nice or not, a bit like I expect Gok Wan might do. Personally I look on the OS as a City fan and to me I just see ferdinands clobber and man united squad number smack bang on the front page but as I said, we've differing opinions and we obviously both look at things very differently.
