When my best mate Boey went suddenly, I found great solace in the community in this thread.
I got a real feeling of chatting with people who understood and had been there themselves.
Find your favourite photo of him and post it here. It’ll be difficult for a few weeks not to think of him without crying, but you’ll get there.

Daisy, on her way to the Forest Preserve for a walk!

14 years old and spry as you’d like!

She’s a Bichon Cocker. Legs and face of a Cocker, but body of a Bichon. When we let her coat grow in the winter, the Cocker disappears and she looks all Bichon…apart from being a bit “tall!”
Looks like she's getting a half time dressing down off Fergie

Cooper.
Settling in. We’ve been taking him each day since Saturday. Letting him get to know us. Absolutely lovely dog with unlimited energy. I’ve tried to tire him out each day.

Finally conked out at home after an active couple of days.

He’s moving in permanently tonight. I have builders in at the moment and they are going to clear up the timber from the garden today.

So……. Welcome home Cooper.

Ok. Looking for advice.

It’s looking like I will be taking this handsome divil. A woman in work can’t keep him anymore apparently. Her daughter, living with her, has a new baby and they are afraid the dog will knock her over jumping up on her.

Red Setters are a very playful, active, some might say hyper, breed of dog so I understand her plight. I offered to take him, as we were starting to look to replace our beloved Boey. Dog Trust haven’t been back to me yet and we also had our name down with a Labrador dog breeder.

Anyway this dog goes by the name of Champ and he’ll be one year old in July.
We’ve had a discussion at home and I think we all want a name change if possible. “Cooper” seems to be a unanimous nomination.
Have any of you been in these circumstances when taking a rescue dog. Does a one year old dog adapt to a name change easily.

I’ve suggested using the name Champ but adding Cooper to any command and gradually phasing out the Champ part as he gets used to hearing Cooper.

Any tips?
Beautiful looking dog, as for the name, just lengthen "Champ" to "Championes" then you have every excuse to go out shouting "Championes, Championes ole ole ole" :-)

This is true. Our veterinarian phoned me when Gracie's ashes came back. I picked them up. They are in a nice little bamboo box. A few days later she sent a greeting card in the post with her condolences and a paw print and nose print from my doggo.

I have them on a shelf in my front room. I'm considering getting a "portrait " done of her from a company who uses photos to make them with your pet dressed in human clothing. I might have her dressed as Queen Elizabeth I. :)

Strangely, twice since she passed I swear I've seen her trotting through the room out of the corner of my eye. Probably my mind tricking me but it is nice to think she is still around.
