Auba plays for Gabon, if they weren't the hosts this edition, they would've probably been knocked out in qualifying. They aren't a great national team and will probably be out on group stages anyway. Whenever they make an AFCON.
 
Hopefully another twist or two to come this summer. To go from the Pogba's and Auba's of the window to Nolito and teenage Brazilian not playing in Europe is a bit, erm, underwhelming.

Of course it matters to supporters how we spend our money. If we spent 200 million on a 55 year old keeper would that be fine because it wasn't our money.

I don't know why it's difficult BBS has already gone over it. Just as valid to discuss the price as it might mean we can't get another player that some believe would be better value. It's, you know, an opinion.

And it's totally irrelevant for the reasons that I've stated to you and BBS.

You haven't got a clue what the budget is.

Talking about which player (that we are in for) is better as that is ALL that matters to the fans. Or it should be.

Which player would best strengthen the side. Not "value for money" as it's an irrelevance to all but the staff and management. They are the only ones that know what the budget is and how many players we are in for.

Saying "I'd buy him for £45m but not £55m" is fucking pointless. If the next best is cheaper but not as good then come May, we'll have an extra £2m in cash and possibly not the title we were after. Still, at least you'll feel good about the cash saved, that you'll never see.

It's about do the club think they can afford to spend the cash to get the guy they need at the price being asked. If Auba is the ideal forward for what Pep wants now, there may not be any suitable alternative at a better price. I don't know if he is the right player but what I have seen of him suggests that he is reasonably unique. What is for sure is that there is a shortage of really good strikers about, so prices are going to be high this summer.

Because it's not my money right?

If someone believes £45 million could be better spent on a couple of full backs than Mangala I think that's an opinion worthy of discussion. Of course we don't know the exact budget, that's not the point; the point is there is a budget not limitless cash.

Which I'm sure the management are aware of, hence my previous points.
 
I like how MEN have been championing BvB's cause here. "Just give them the 65 mil, go on, you know you want to."

Give them time. I'd be surprised if they didn't compromise on 60mil, which is still selling high on him.

They will get add on's to get it to that price ,they are a sure bet for a pep team to win things so they get the money,if we pay up everyone else will take the piss so we can't do it
 
The way i look at it us that if we lose sergio for any extended length of time then we lack depth. We have kelechi but he is still learning and we would struggle with him for an extended lenght of time.

Then look at the transfers mooted. Nolito, aubamayang and sane.....the only one that looks anywhere near the quality is aubamayang....the rest are wide players who at a push can play as a forward whereas aubamayang can and already is a goal scorer.

We know that at some point we are going to lose kun to injury. Aubamayang is the only one so far with the quality to replace him.

And no sterling is not the answer...And i like the lad and dont think he deserves any of the stick he is getting
