Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

I was referring to the Real Madrid "talks" . Whether they were real I don't know, but they were reported earlier this year.

Do you think Dortmund would let the Bundesliga player of the Year and centre forward go for less than what City paid for De Bruyne having just sold Gundogan.

As I have said earlier in this topic the same thing happened earlier this year. It was reported that Aubameyang would go to Real Madrid and the fee was £70m (90m Euros). His club later denied it.

So these British press reports now are just copy and paste jobs, out of date, and unreliable. The whole story is unreliable if you ask me because this has all happened before.

Marvin I know you're a glass half empty type of fella and that's fine

But for once...and it is rare...I know for a fact we are in for him...We may not get him...but we are trying...any fees are pure speculation at this point anyway

So is he likely to be played out wide on the right if we sign him? I doubt either he or Aguero would be happy rotating.

As my previous post suggests, they will both play centrally ALA muller and lewandowski
Pep will overload the final third of the pitch with 2 interchangeable forwards and 2 direct wingers

Behind that will be pace/energy and technical ball players..

At a guess (after reading Pep Confidential)..we will probably line up like:

With Gundogan as Pep's pivote.

Not sure on Fernandinho and Sterling as Pep usually plays his full backs there but ours are shit.

I would bet money that's not going to happen. The only reason Muller and Lewandowski played together is because Muller isn't a proper striker. If anyone in the squad is going to take on the Muller role it will be De Bruyne.

And Pep isn't going to play with 5 forwards and a lightweight midfield.

It's 100x more likely Guardiola is going to do exactly what he did to David Villa, and Samuel Eto'o, and Thiery Henry. Sign a world class striker, and shift them back out wide.

I've read Pep Confidential twice, cover to cover, and there is absolutely nothing in it to suggest he'd ever consider a line up like that.

It seems pretty obvious that we are trying to sign him, the issue for me is that unless he kicks up a load of shit to get a move it is going to be difficult to get them to sell. Personally, I don't get too hung up on transfer fees, the market is bonkers these days so what's the point in fretting over the difference between 50m or 70m or whether it is "value"? The owner has the deepest of deep pockets and if the people running the club are happy to throw money at this deal then who gives a shit as long as he is a success (I think he would be). It is going to take a huge bid and even then it'll drag on for weeks I would think, it doesn't look an easy deal that's for sure.

Anyone else think Dortmund could be leaking this in order to force Real Madrid into a bidding war??

Find it weird that all these Journalist are now saying we haven't bid for him but are interested.

Thanks for your information. I wasn't doubting it

I was just pointing out that the latest press reports are speculative, and should be read in context of very similar reports that were made in connection with real Madrid when the fee mentioned was £70m. There's a big difference between discussions and completing a deal and this looks very far from getting done. I don't think it will happen because Dortmund aren't going to be willing sellers, and he's under contract.

IMO this is all coming from the player's camp, trying to force Dortmund either to the negotiating table, or to agree a fee and let him go.

Put your money where your mouth is..
Where did you get 5 forwards from?
I mentioned 3 in midfield with energy and ideally technical skill
Then 2 wingers who would evidently need to work (as Pep demands), with the 2 interchangeable forwards
Aguero consistently drops into the middle third to work back as well as get the ball, dont suggest its never happened

I've read Pep Confidential twice, cover to cover, and there is absolutely nothing in it to suggest he'd ever consider a line up like that.

Besides the past 2 years at Munich you mean?
Im not stating the poster above is an expert after reading a book, as you certainly arent from reading it twice

My opinion comes from him playing this system consistently for the past 2 years in the Bundesliga (very similar to england compared to spain, albeit not idential, and in 2014-16)
Your opinion comes from him playing 433 with the most possession based players in the middle I have ever seen, in la liga which is totally the opposite to england, over 5 years ago now..

Football changes, he knows that

I'd suggest you probably read it again then.

He consistently uses a pivote, but at times dabbles with the idea of two of them. Then he wants his two ball players ahead of him. Kroos/Thiago. KdB/Silva. He has Alaba and Rafinha almost in midfield. See my point regarding full backs from my earlier post. Uses German Red Pig when fit. Plays Boateng, Dante and Martinez at the back.

It's up front where things go different from Pep Confidential, he used a False 9 previously and tried to use Ribery there but he didn't have two strikers like Aguero and Aubameyang. So it's a guess (as I said in my OP) of how he fits two of them in but still sticks to his usual preferences further back.

Dortmund need to double his wages to give him parity with the clubs other top earners. The agent is just doing his job but should have negotiated harder last Autumn

It's been raised a few times that this is similar to our stance during KDB. What were we saying during the Sterling debacle?
