The greatest Punk album of all time.
The best Floyd album of all time? (I think so)
A lifetime of loving this album and a lifetime of hating the mix. At long last a 2018 remix release is due. A version of Dogs has been posted. Wow. What a revelation....
Many a prog album were badly produced at this time... then There Were 3 Genesis and Going For The One by Yes included. Seemed an attempt to dumb down. Be more street.
But Animals has as much vitriol and venom as anything the Pistols or the Clash could muster.
This mix opens up the sound, gives drum and keyboard washes more presence and textures. It also loses some of the claustrophobia which matches the content of the original album.
Waters and Gilmore have been bickering about this release hence the long wait.
So, any other Bluemooners stoked for this release?
Not familiar with the original but lasted about 3 mins with that one. Just not for me. Wouldn't really class it as punk either tbh.

Yeah, since his ‘comeback’ In The Flesh’ Tour in the late 90s he’s put on some fantastic shows. His version of Dogs on the live album (and DVD) from that tour is brilliant.Well I am looking forward to it. Animals was a seminal album for me while suffering through boarding school. This version of "Dogs" is indeed very different all right. Might still pull out the original though; haven't listened to it in yonks.
On a side note, I saw Roger Waters in concert over here a few years back; he's old now but he's still got it. (His floating pig had Trump's face on it.) Missed his most recent show though.

Brilliant band. But no way was it a "punk album". For a start, most of it's in tune!

I’d love to see Pink Floyd regroup and tour but it’s never gonna happen
It's ironic that in 1977 when Johnny Rotten was calling them old farts Pink Floyd was doing more sophisticated attacks on society than any punk band and Roger Waters was actually spitting at his own fans for being arseholes

Loved the original but this sounds great, iPods need charging before a real listen. Not sure about their best album but I change my mind, certainly my favourite, cheers for posting
