Pitch invasions

A lot of sweeping statements on the thread (including by me earlier). Some saying those that are having a dig at the pitch dancers are miserable, armchair fans who never sing. Some, including me, saying the pitch dancers are self-entitled tik tok cockwombles of the me me me generation.

But all the above misses the point. It’s about respect for the club we all love. The club asked us not to go on the pitch. That wasn’t some no really means yes code. And I get that a trickle of people will open the dam and people then get caught up in the moment and follow. The stewards are never going to withstand that pressure, the risk of injury to them and fans would be too high. So the club expects us to self regulate, to have some fucking self control and ultimately respect for the club we love and that which brings us joy - that hallowed turf.

Fair post.

But you can’t expect happy, drunk, etc young and old fans to self regulate.

Apart from that, whether people agree with me or not, it has now become a tradition to do a pitch invasion at the Etihad when City win the PL title.

Not in 2021 was it? Not a peep from the cowards.

I love being a blue surrounded by blues, it's not the policies of whoever owns the club that deserves my respect.

Running on the pitch isn't something I have ever done, but if nobody was hurt we don't need a raft of finger shakers throwing Harry Enfield type suggestions around willy nilly.

I've explained. Last time it was £260k with a warning about future behaviour. We dont know as yet how today will be viewed, but the Premier League does not want pitch invasions, so I'd guess we'll be punished again.

As there was a warning, and as fines for this kind of thing go, a pretty big fine - then we could get something worse.

Worse might be a bigger fine (not a big deal, maybe). It could be playing a game behind closed doors. It could be a points deduction. Those are maybe the extreme possibilities and I dont think they'll happen - well, not this year.

Fast forward 12 months, there's a decent chance we'll win the league again - after whatever punishment we get this year. If the Premier League really don't want pitch invasions then we may end with something bad. If the fines keep doing nothing, then at some point the punishment becomes harsher. That's how it goes.

So what do we do about it you ask? Well how about everyone has bit of fucking responsibility for their own behaviour for a start. It's not down to the police to stop it or the stewards to do better - it's on us to just not do it. It's not fucking hard. Stay in the stands, sing, be bloody happy. We don't need to be doing shitty kneeslides or getting selfies on the pitch to show passion for the club.

But I get the feeling this is too much to ask and at some point further down the line we'll get our arses slapped and then starting crying that it isn't fair.

Let’s make it easier for the PL. Just tell them to add whatever they come up with to the 112 charges.

Like 1000’s of other City fans I’ll boo their fucking anthem even more.

TBH I couldn’t give a fuck what the PL come up with, but it certainly won’t be a points deduction or matches being played behind closed doors.

I really don’t know where you’re getting these hypothetical PL punishments from.

The club will justifiably say they put stewards around the pitch, put police in-front of the away end, and did every thing could to stop a pitch invasion, but the number of fans invading the pitch couldn’t be stopped.

But it's not 5 minutes though is it. It's half an hour minimum.
Are you fergusons watch maker? Was it bollocks half hour minimum, 10 minutes max.

And by the way, it delayed the podium being erected thats all. the presentation itself wasn't delayed, the podium was up and ready for a while but the players and staff weren't ready, they went to get changed and didn't emerge the second they were ready so it really didn't delay anything.

Exactly. We’ve had delayed by 24 hours, an hour, forty five minutes, half and hour, etc. When in reality it was between 10 to 15 minutes max. The stage and getting the bastard media into place took longer.

The club asked me to pay a grand to go to istanbul 2 nights when it has been proven they could have cut that price by £300+ and still made a shitload of profits

the club put up a 7-10% hike on season cards when really revenue wise it wasn't necessary

The club (well soriano) constanly put revenue over fans
