Pitch invasions

It just seems forced at this point. The breaking of the goals the last time seemed completely pointless too.

I get it for the 2012 and 2022 seasons given the way we won, but when the other 2 3rds of the crowd are chanting "off, off, off" at you, maybe just get the fuck off the field so we can have the presentation?

Hopefully no, was almost £300,000 fine last time, this imho was one of the main contributing factors for ST price increases. Next time (if we do it) it will be a significantly larger fine and points deductions, imho it should only be level 1 that get price increases next season as they were culpable

I’m not normally rude to a fellow forum member, but what an absolute croc of shite!!

And if you remember at the final whistle last season, the stewards all stood back and let the pitch invasion happen. They were told not to intervene by the club. The Police surrounded the Villa end.

Nobody is going to stop 1000’s of fans from invading the pitch. Just let it happen. Let the fans get on the pitch. Let them hopefully enjoy another PL title win, a 4th in a row, and a new record. The fans will come off the pitch. And like last season I really don’t think the club gives two fucks about the PL, Masters and their pitch invasion fine.

The goals weren’t broken last (time) season. That was May 2022. There was no trouble last season during the pitch invasion. The chants of off, off…. only started towards the end of the pitch invasion when fans were already coming off the pitch. Why do people not tell the truth when posting about events?

Whether people like it or not, it will happen again, like it has done for the last how many years. It’s now become part and parcel of a possible last day title win. I’m not going to call it a tradition because that would rile some people on here.

And one more point. I’m sure West Ham’s supporters would love to be on the pitch with us if City win the PL title and stop Arsenal from winning the PL title.

They aren't going to stop fans for safety reasons, the booing started immediately from all the stands. I'm sure the club are happy about paying £300,000 fine last season, larger fine this season and possible points deductions. It was great in 2012, its been embarrassing on several occasions since then

The booing didn’t start immediately from all stands. It never does. You must be hearing booing in your head? There was no booing form SSL1 where I was stood last season. Just 1000’s of City fans heading down the steps towards the pitch, and the stewards standing aside to let the fans get on to the pitch. City fans on all the stands were celebrating the title win and City coming back to win 3-2 after the final whistle, not booing. The booing normally starts after 5-10 minutes, with chants of off, off, off, as the fans start walking back to the stands.

I stand corrected, but I don’t remember the club announcing a fine amount after the match.

As for points deduction, what are you on about? There hasn’t been a points deduction yet for a pitch invasion in any division, let alone in the PL. Stop making things up.

Like I said, try and stop it. Trying to stop a pitch invasion causes more problems. Let the fans get on the pitch, celebrate, get off the pitch, and the trophy presentation will start.

Fan of clubs that have been promoted up and down the country have invaded pitches to celebrate promotion. There hasn’t been any news of arrests, problems or disorder during the those pitch invasions.

Tends to be the middle class types who are bit entitled these days, £100 on the new players edition shirt that came out that week and on the pitch for selfies.

We got a suspended ban for the pitch invasion in 1993.

I’ve never taken a selfie on the pitch. I may have kissed the turf, and taken a little piece of the turf/a few blades of grass, but that is about it. Then I’ve gone back to my seat as quickly as possible, ready for the trophy presentation.

Not bothered one way or the other as long as they go on and get off quick.Though most on there don't seem to know why they've gone on wonder about a bit. It's those that hang around and need to be booed and coerced off that annoy the rest of us.Though the only reason the goals weren't vandalised last year wasn't that some fans had decided not to twats it was because the club protected them with a cordon.

Goals were broken after the Villa game tbf.

Exactly mate.

The only fuck up was the goal and cross bar damage. The goal wasn’t protected that day. There were 3 stewards stood inside the goal, but they walked away and left it. Last season the club put a line of stewards in-front of the goal. There was a line of police in-front of the Villa fans. The club and the Police worked together and did a really good job. Stewards around the perimeter of the pitch stood aside and even helped some fans on to the pitch.

With a probable last day PL trophy win, all the shit the club and the fans have had to take from the PL, the pending case, the media, fans of other clubs up and down the country calling us cheats, and Masters probably being at the Etihad, there is going to be a massive out pouring of relief and euphoria at the final whistle.

The problem is that a pitch invasion should be something special that only happens very occasionally, after the aguero goal being a perfect example.

But when it's every single time we win the league, which has been quite a lot recently, It loses a lot of meaning.

And especially if we've already won the league before the day of the game, it just seems a bit pointless. I wouldn't put it in the embarrassing category, but I would say it isn't ALWAYS necessary

It happens once a season. The fact it happens once a season when City win the PL title should be celebrated.

On the flip side, if City lose the PL title to Arsenal on the last day of the season there won’t be a pitch invasion. Let’s factor that scenario in.

I’ve done my share of pitch invasions and I’m happy to leave that to the youngsters now.

That said, it’s actually a lot more fun watching the pitch invasion than the interminable, tedious presentation ceremony that follows. Starts with a load of Sky / PL flunkies taking ages to construct a load of advertising hoardings which masquerade as a stage (why do they need a stage, we’re all looking down on them from the stands). Then we get every man and his dog, seemingly every employee of City past and present, wheeled out to take part in the ceremony before eventually at long long last the only people we want to see - Pep and the squad - get their medals
