PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Why would Levy have so much influence, and couldn't the PL just tell him to fuck off?

I'm torn between being super confident in our position in all of this, but am drawn back when I remember that the PL would have taken the steps which they have on the say so of expert legal advice from their own very good, experienced lawyers. Or wouldn't they?

You would think so, but the PL looks to be quite an inept organisation and it all seems very hurried, a lot of this could have been sorted out behind closed doors, there is no need to have it out in the open, I think the PL and City would agree to that but someone is making mischief leaking information and making stuff up to their client journalists

The Martin Samuel article is 'out there.'
How can one person be so against the tide?
If he has got insider information then once again the club have got it right in personnel recruitment.
Having this true sports journalist seemingly in our corner is on a par with Pep as manager and KdB in the first team.
I don't believe he would risk his reputation and standing within the game if he wasn't across the whole thing comprehensively.
I don't think his integrity would allow him to be a paid shrill or the like and he's playing the long game safe in the knowledge that he will always be the go to guy on matters City related going forward once this shit is done and dusted.
The fact that he's referenced other clubs who have been hoodwinked through FFP in this latest article will begin the ringing of many alarm bells among supporters of other clubs I am sure.
Top six (sadly we're a part of it like it or not). Everyone else - Want success? From now on accept your place, take your turn at being this seasons yo-yo club, parachute payments will see you right and when we decide to change the rules to suit ourselves again you'll be the last to know!
Perhaps Samuel is the Trent Crimm on the inside at Richmond FC ….

Ted Lasso folks.
I’ll get me coat.

If the Levy thing is true and I don't doubt it at all - what does that say about the PL - being bullied by one of their less successful members to try to bring down the club that has provided the largest contribution to their product. I can't get my head around why any sensible organisation would do that. It seems to suggest to me that they have no long-term strategy. An organisation that was in touch with the market would see the long term benefits of City becoming more and more attractive. The failure to understand the changing nature of their commercial environment will threaten their future and they have all sorts of things to fear like the super league and more fans realising that they are backing losers (redtops) - or am I putting too much faith in people being able to comprehend what is going on?

I am kind of halfway there. I don't blame the PL for opening an investigation once UEFA had started their process. My issue is more with timing. The PL should have waited for the end of the UEFA process and taken their findings into account, imo.

Anyway, Masters gets a lot of stick on here, but wasn't it Scudamore who started the investigation? Masters can't really be expected to stop it without going through the process, in the same way Ceferin couldn't at UEFA.

In fact, I see this as the PL's Platini/ FFP moment. Weak management leading to a situation they rather wouldn't be in. Hopefully the same outcome.

As for Levy, he is just a useful idiot . We all know who is really driving this.

@Prestwich_Blue if this case goes past the summer will we get another 5 charges added for non-cooperation for that season?
LOL. Good question but the charges are out and the process has (presumably started) so I doubt it. But they'll probably find something to charge us with. Having shirts that are too bright or something.

I first heard the term 'Big 6' in the mid-late 70's by the likes of Jimmy Hill, with the 6 being City, utd, Everton, liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal and measured by clubs who could regularly attract 40,000 + crowds. The 'Big 5' would have remained as the 'Big 6' but for reasons we all know about....
I thought the ‘Big 5’ was the number of years Liverpool fans got English clubs banned from Europe…

I doubt Levy was acted purely on his own initiative, more likely he was the messenger boy for the usual suspects.
