Is that you Rascal? As a proper socialist young fella (Thatcher was voted as Prime Minister on my 20th birthday) I was proper left wing, attended Rock against Racism rallies, Anti Nazi Lesgue against the National Front, wore the badges, loved the punk scene. However to complete the “lefty” persona reading the “Ragged Trousered Philanthropist” was essential.
That book has clear parallels with society today, not turning this into politics as there’s a thread for that but it’s a very good, informative story for anyone interested in history, especially the struggle the working class endured.
No, my left wing bias calmed down over the years, to the extent I wouldn’t want Labour in charge of the country. I do however hold my beliefs from my younger days, just not with the same angst. Is that you Rascal?
There is a site which has a page for every PL team called manchestercity dot news which includes the cost of a player/wages in every headline about us. We're the only team to which this applies. It's a shame as some of the writing is OK.I was just scanning Newsnow for any sensible and interesting headlines that standout and I have noticed that even the sites that claim to be City related sites always qualify their descriptions of players as '£47m' this player or '£300k pw' that player, to which I imply a negative slant (could be just me).
Many people moderate their views rightwards as they mature. I have gone further left with every passing year. I view Labour as Tory light. I am certainly not a Marxist but I have lost all faith in the traditional parties. I started as a centrist but carried on drifting. No, my left wing bias calmed down over the years, to the extent I wouldn’t want Labour in charge of the country.
