PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

And therein lies the problem. It should be Masters and the executive chairman (who, you ask?) driving rule changes for the good of the league as a whole, not just letting the clubs set their own half-baked agendas.

You just can't let 20 clubs, each with their own agendas, write and re-write new rules every year. That is the road that led to a Brexit that should never really have happened.

We have had 15 years of the big clubs implementing dumb ass rules, now it seems we have the smaller clubs implementing dumb ass rules. Where is the leadership?

How much does Masters earn? Fuck me, for whatever he gets, I could arrange a number of general meetings every year to let the clubs decide what they want to do without any apparent input. Grow a pair, man. Do your fucking job.
I think this Masters chap is incapable of doing anything other than kowtowing to the clubs tbh, namely the red tops and spurs. I think he'd struggle to tackle a decent sized trifle if it came down to it

No idea I particularly remember United had a partner like that and at the time a few more

Here is a link about the dodgy sponsors (not City)

Revealed: The obscure gambling firms with untraceable employees working with your football club

Many clubs have been caught up a few stings….. even the mighty Kilmarnock..

and you guess wankers wont be involved in super league
we wont be welcome
Probably
At least we would have a say who is running it and the red tops wouldn't get all their way with other countries involved.
Don't want it but get the feeling it's being forced through incompetence at the PL

What was it? Was it evidence of any wrong doing by City, as some guy I'm arguing with believes?
They are Philippino offshore gambling companies. They can’t advertise at home but millions there watch the prem. No mystery, just poor research or deliberate fake news as usual from our media. Afaik, there is nothing against any regs in this.
Several of these have advertised via half a dozen or more PL clubs. They have short term contracts only.

Everything points to China and Money Laundering at worst, not the UAE and FFP, is the first thing to mention to idiots trying to suggest the latter. The wrong doing, would be a lack of due-diligence but there are so many clubs with the same question mark for the exact same thing, that singling City out would be discrimination(or some other such legal word). Also, the argument from the club's point of view would be it's hard to prove a company isn't legit because a lot of companies are registered in the Isle of Man(where an owner can nominate a shareholder in their place) and/or use the British Virgin Islands(to avoid tax).

Rabin did a twitter thread which pointed to United's(and Arsenal's?) betting company sponsorship('s), after Nick Harris tried to make it City only story, based on their being 'no online presence' for the company. He seemed so excited and pleased with himself, at the time.

While some pointed out; China based companies have no legitimate access to western social media platforms because they are blocked by their country... Which makes looking for their online presence on those platforms in the first place, rather stupid, especially for an 'investigative journalist'.

The United one Rabin mentioned was Yabo, who later changed their name to HTH. It seemed to have no more than a placeholder website that was barely functioning, just like the City one.

Newcastle, Watford, Leicester City, along with Manchester United have been mentioned on a Financial Time's video documentary they made in 2023. City weren't mentioned in that, surprisingly. I think it's because their focus was on Xela Holdings and it's connection to Suncity.

In 2013, Xela Holdings was described in a trade magazine as the online arm of one of Macau's leading VIP junket operators, Suncity.

Suncity Group has been variously linked to triad groups, has been accused of being a front for money laundering, and its former CEO in January, Alvin Chau, was jailed for 18 years.

Along with the above mentioned clubs, I seem to remember Arsenal, Everton and number of other PL clubs made the list of clubs with questionable betting sponsors, in an article from a few years back. Maybe someone else remembers which paper/online outlet did that article.

Money laundering in the UK seems to be a far wider reaching issue than just betting companies(crypto companies also being used) and football.
