If we are in fact, as it seems, being alleged to have pretty much carried out accounting fraud and cooking the books, surely this would also have an implication with HMRC and not just PL? It would mean that either the independent auditors, i think there have been a few, have either:
1. colluded and been paid off
2. been negligent and not done the job properly (all of them)
3. City giving them false documentation, that surely is one of the things they would have been looking out for in the first place?
The severity of the accusations surely means that PL wouldn't go in with the same level of evidence that was thrown out by CAS. I personally believe the reason that there are so many are to allow them a higher percentage chance of getting some to stick. Even if they got 20, they could push for some kind of punishment and it will look like they are doing their job. One of the first things that the PL clubs were assured by the new woman in charge, Alison Brittain (a rag btw), was that they would uphold the rules and push hard on it.
On the flipside even if City were to win all of them, or maybe even a good percentage, i don't think we would cause any drama other than a 'told you so'. It's in the owners interests to keep the PL in the state it currently is, business-wise it brings in so much it would be dumb to try and destroy it.
