PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

What is the PL doing about the hacking by Liverpool, did they perhaps visit the City financial books, and left some dirt there, that’s why they have persevered with this for years. How many times have the PL visited Boston to check the books there.Or isited Cayman Island to check the other red books, regards Bebe transfer which was odd.Fergies son being an agent for United’s players,City play their cards right there must be dodgy dealings out there. The hacking was brushed aside, too long ago but now they are going through from the same era. What is their excuse now.

I understand this piece. Much like FFP states you can lose X amount in Y period. You lose too much in the set period, you have broken an FFP rule and are punished as per the rules of FFP. FFP isn’t a law of the land, so it remains within “the club”. No issues there.

However, some of the accusations pre-date FFP and seem far more akin to breaking a law of the land, than they do breaking a club rule. This is where I am still lost.

Shite analogy incoming…

You foul someone on a pitch, you give away a free-kick, get carded etc. All covered in the club rules. End of it. You stab someone to death on the pitch, it might have happened within the club, but I don’t think it ends with the PL putting a panel together to determine if you should receive more than the usual 3 match ban for violent conduct.

I am just struggling with an accusation of falsifying accounts coming out and it being dealt with inside “the club”.
Simplistically, while we are dealing with breaches of the 'club's rules' it can be an error, oversight, whatever. Criminal or fraudulent activity can be deduced from whatever is revealed in the disciplinary enquiry, which is yet to come.
If there was considered to be obvious fraud, they would have gone straight to the police/serious fraud office instantly - just as with your analogy; if there was a stabbing on the pitch and someone was murdered, you wouldn't wait for disciplinary proceedings to take place in front of an FA panel to consider extending the likely 3 match ban for violent conduct before getting The Plod involved. NB I'll qualify that last remark because if the murderer was wearing a red shirt, even the sending off would be overturned by VAR, and the Coroner would most likely return a suicide verdict.
See what you've done now? You've made me think about VAR, and now I need to consider the likely involvement of Howard Webb and his red shirted mob getting involved - where is this going to end?!?

You are the epitome of a proper old school City fan Eccles. My boys in the family stand have been told about you and whenever John Stones does something good they point towards the Colin Bell stand and shout “that was for Eccles Blue”. Different generations, the same BLUE blood. Hope you are getting better?

CITY TIL WE DIE
Thank you so much BBS I love it when the younger generations come through. I’m just in the process of renewing my great-grandson’s Junior Citizen card.

I’m getting better slowly but surely. Got more tests over the next couple of weeks.

We’ll beat these fools but it gets tedious the way they keep trying to bring us down. :-)

Anyone think there is a possibilty that, like what happened with UEFA, the PL panel will find us guilty no matter what evidence we provide? Forcing us to appeal and string this all out, further damaging us?
Absolutely, they had already cherry picked the gooner to sit in judgement, before we were informed we had been charged. Absolutely stinks.

Oh sorry, the paragraph where CAS says the evidence clearly shows that the Etihad sponsorship was not funded by ADUG.

I thought you were saying the opposite.

Come on, you’re smart enough to know that’s not what CAS says. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

City did not prove ADUG didn’t send the money, UEFA failed to prove they did.

That’s why I wrote a whole paragraph in my original comment about it being foolish to assume CAS and the PL panel would reach the same verdict because they may see different evidence or just be convinced to fall 1v2 instead of 2v1.

I still can't make my mind up if the PL think they have a strong case or not. On the one hand they have gone so big on this, that they would look pretty stupid if it turns our they didn't. So some would argue they must have a strong hand or think they have one. I've even seen heard some respected City fans on these matters say that(Stefan I think).

On the other hand, it raises some questions for me:

Does it really add up that:

It took 4 years because City didn't co-operate. Yet they STILL came up with strong evidence(the bar will be high) for a massive claim of 9 years of falsifying accounts?

If they had that, would they really need to find 100+ claims, for nice headline to brief the press with before anyone at City had time to prepare statements, inform their employees, shareholders and so on?

If the PL's approach("over 100 charges") was applied to club doing transfers in the transfer market, I'm pretty sure the phrase "scattergun approach" would pop up. "One of these has to be right".

So you could make just as strong an argument that the PL is not showing the energy someone with a strong hand would show. It's like they are hoping City are forced to hand over some info that helps them make their case. So they don't actually think they have proof themselves yet after all.
The media are loving the 100+ charges, like it nails us, “there’s 100+ charges, they must be guilty”. I take some comfort (rightly or wrongly) in there being so many, especially when so many are related to non-compliance. If you had a smoking gun that proved we were guilty of the worst accusations, would you be arsed about City telling you to fuck off in emails?

there’s circa 100 charges that have been laid. If we’ve done nothing wrong it still takes time to respond to them. Clearly the club will prioritise them but it won’t be a quick process in my view. So I do not believe that 23 days allows enough time to respond to 100 charges, unless “not guilty on all counts” will do for openers
It's already been said that there's no way this will be settled this season, it's far too complex. It's taken them 5 years to get this far.
