PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

So, the new Manchester United-supporting CEO started last month and almost immediately we have this news. I wonder if that's a coincidence? Or did United and Liverpool have a chance to vet her, as was alleged in the media with regard to at least one previous appointee? And, if so, did the City investigation feature in those discussions?

It seems clear to me that by making the number of allegations the PL has, which cover matters going back to Mancini's contract in 2009, there's a clear aim to throw as much as they can at us in the hope that some will stick. But they've argued that we've filed dishonest accounts for nearly a decade. That's an incendiary allegation and they can't expect MCFC to do anything other than fight it with all the force we can muster.

I don't have any experience of prosecutions of directors for false accounting, but I'm led to believe that it's not conceivable that City's directors would be prosecuted for that offence in these circumstances. Nonetheless, the allegations, if true, presuppose that those directors committed actions that are in some circumstances viewed as a serious criminal matter punishable by several years' imprisonment. I can't see Khaldoon, for instance, taking that lying down.

One key thing to point out, as we did ahead of CAS, is that the reporting of this case fails to acknowledge that it's possible to work within rules to circumvent them. Instead, it's seems enough for our friends in the press that we've probably been in breach of the "spirit of the rules". But this is a bullshit concept that counts for sweet fuck all in the real world.

If UEFA or the PL want their rules to ban some kinds of sponsorship, the onus is on them to draft legal provisions which expressly say so. Otherwise, we're entitled to find whatever workarounds the applicable text of the rules allows. (To be fair, The PL have changed rules down the years to try and close what they see as loopholes).

As a defendant, what you have a right to expect when matters as serious as this are in issue is that there'll be a full and thorough examination by the panel empowered to hear the case. That could take months, if not years. Yet I see that the media this morning are suggesting that clubs want a quick resolution, with a punishment in place that applies to this season. If so, those clubs prove that they couldn't give a toss about due process.

I'm bound to say that, IF we end up being proved guilty of having falsified our accounts over many years, then one would have to say that we'd deserve a punishment of unprecedented force. But that's an extremely difficult thing for the PL to prove. We deny the charges, I believe (from my admittedly biased viewpoint) and, under any concept of due process, we're entitled to have our case heard properly before that assessment is definitively handed down.

The reaction of opposing fans, the press briefings of rival club, and the media glee at what's happened tells you that no one in this constituencies is the slightest but interested in fairness. At the moment, I'm bullish and look forward to the club approaching its defence of its position in the most forceful terms. Let's see how things look when we've done so.

In the meantime, we need to create a real siege mentality. Sometimes when one urges this, people accuse you of being paranoid. Well, in this situation, we know they really are out to try, at all costs, to damage our club irretrievably. Let's all - fans, management, players, directors, other club officials - pull together and really fucking stick it to our detractors.

I believe we should challenge this entire process immediately before Courts of Law for being biased and prejudiced without waiting for conclusion of the trial. Superior Courts have stepped in and gave injunctions before where it is suspected the Commision under challenge will not provide proper justice.

Let's have it, ya cunts

I don't know if this is correct or even true but I recall a story being told about Khaldoon and Mansour while students in America, not allowed to enter a big nightclub in Miami due to them being non white, so they bought a nightclub very close to the one that refused them entrance and made it so successful it put the other one out of business. If there is a grain of truth in that, that's the Khaldoon, Mansour we need to see right now . Like I said I do not know if true but it's a story I heard couple of years back . Can anyone verify this ?

It's true, it was in Vegas. Not sure if they were then students

They invested in MGM Grand and opened Hakkassan restaurant and paid Calvin Harris £10m residency.

Have you cheered up since this morning’s tap in and providing easy content for our enemies like Nick Harris, Stefan?
You gave that ugly City hating **** an open goal today and quite frankly, you should be embarrassed about that
Expected better of you tbh
Get a grip. You can live in delusion if you like. I think most City fans would/have appreciated understanding the nature of the allegations and consequences IF the charges are proven (I made it clear that this was IF).

It isn't a fair criticism (IMO) simply to say I am too negative. It is, unfortunately, inconceivable the Panel doesn't throw the book at the club if these charges are proven. It is an ALLEGATION of wholesale false accounting over 9 seasons. I have said it will be extremely difficult for the PL to prove the case and highly complex and sensitive. I believe I have the understanding and experience to speak on the subject.

But again, I stress, IF proven we have a huge problem and telling me I should be embarrassed misses the point. The board will be the ones embarrassed and a lot more. Don't shoot the messenger.

Won’t be watching or listening to any of the drivel on offer this week. Bait loaded with bias and fuelled by the hateful 8 no doubt. However much we back ourselves, the cards are stacked against us maybe too high this time. If Khakdoon clears us, he’ll own the premier league from that point forwards.

Amen, brother.

Business as usual. All will be well.

I never realised how much City were prepared to divulge to CAS but weren't allowed to.

We need to get behind the lads these next few weeks, make it a real bear pit.

All I know is this as serious as it gets, in terms of them coming to bury us, but we do have the evidence to answer it all back.

The players had no knowledge of any such charges prior to Spurs.

They were just shit.

How long do you expect it to drag out Tolm?

I'm not surprised by the announcement yesterday, nor the way it was bungled by the Premier League. What has come from the media and others was to be expected and likely prepared, hence the quotes last night my time of City saying journalists were briefed prior to the announcement. That was obvious and a clear breach of any chance of a fair hearing and any due process associated with it.

Time to go to war finally and end this once and for all. I'm hoping we wipe the floor with the Premier League, and anything and anyone else in the way.

No absolutely not & it was good listening to legal response rather than my amateur court room musings based on ethics & morals.

It just means conciliation has failed after 3 hearings in a set period. We now file for arbitration, in the meantime we can negotiate up to a court date & in his opinion if the expert report comes in favourably then they’ll want to do that soon. I’m not convinced.
Hmm, sounds like they're not convinced about their "experts" if they haven't responded yet.
I suspect they'll settle( delay tactics failing) but I don't have all the facts.

Hardly slept last night. What strikes home here is how we used to be a well liked club and now we are widely disliked, and I think we mainly have the media to blame for that, those cunts have been digging into us from the moment we started to threaten the red clubs dominance - the papers, bbc, sky, bt and itv all give us appalling coverage. This is going to be a bad time, defending over 100 charges against an authority that despises us will take a long time, at best, and is unlikely to be impartial. The chances of successfully defending them all, all the little technicalities, is probably not feasible, so even if 2 or 3 stick what punishment are we looking at? Based on the letter from the hateful 8, or the cuntish 9, whatever it was, I doubt we get much or any support from other clubs. Even if we win it can’t be quick, so what chance of getting in new players like Bellingham in the summer? What chance of our better players and manager wanting to stay, not easy to get new sponsors etc? I am confident we have done nothing to deserve this hatred, nothing beyond rocking boats by doing things well, on and off the pitch, and upsetting the bus brickers, the PED peddlers, the tarquins and the makers of illegal payments to the managers son etc, but it feels like we are in a horrible and undeserved place at the moment and I can’t see it getting better quickly.

Won't I don't understand is that we have not cooperated with them since 2018 but wasn't a court ruling in 2021 to hand over all our documents since the witch hunt began,or that we havnt engaged with them at all which I smell bullshit ?

I hope you are right :)

But this whole seems of a witch hunt. I cant believe that all other 17 clubs are treated the same. I cant believe that the dippers rags and gooners are investigated like us.

So why us ?

Is it legal to pick on one member ?

Why did they choose City , who decided to go after City.

Why are the dippers and rags allowed to vet the candidates for the head of the PL.

I use to enjoy being a football fan, bananas, the songs, the banter. Now I still love City but I now hate dippers and rags and I mean an unhealthy hate. Football is turning into what feels like war. I'm 62 to fucking old to be feeling like this.

FFP is there for one reason only to stop other clubs from being competitive. To allow the cartel to stay at the top.

In what othe line of business is it illegal to invest in your company as much as you think is required to make it a success ?

I hope City smash this to pieces, take down the American own clubs and a few of the press/media along the way.

This stinks
