PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The Premier League has been totally disingenuous about our situation. Compare how they announced their charges against us with how they announced Everton's charges.

Everton.

"In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred an alleged breach of the League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules by Everton Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4. The assessment period for which it is alleged that the Club is in breach is the period ending Season 2021/22."

City.

"In accordance with Premier League Rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club (Club) to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4."

Very similar, but in our case, they very helpful added every single charge, including "for Seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18, Premier League Rules E.53 to E.60." (8 separate charges under Profit and Sustainability, but not mentioned in the Everton announcement).

This creates a false narrative that Everton were guilty of just one breach, whilst City broke the rules 115 times. The PL deliberately created this scenario, and they have done nothing to correct the misinformation.

Together with the timing of our announcement, this stinks of a PL hatchet job on us, instigated by our rivals, as an attempt to stave off regulation whilst at the same time besmirching our name.

There are other strange anomalies on our rap sheet, such as the five charges for failing to comply with "B.14.6. the statutes and regulations of UEFA". How they can charge us with failing to comply with UEFA, when there is no proven charge from UEFA against us in the years specified, is beyond stupid. It wouldn't need Lord Pannick to successfully argue that one in a tribunal.
Excellent points. They wilfully and deliberately “weaponised” the format of their allegations against our club to enable maximum negative publicity and stimulate abuse and hatred amongst the press and general public to the detriment of our public reputation.
If I was a Regulator I’d be all over this and demand an explanation over the different treatments including how it came to be drafted that way, authored by whom, the processes for sign off and publication and most importantly who authorised this approach and form of words. And then I’d make sure they wouldn’t know what hit them.
In an ideal world, I’d also demand the total **** responsible be suspended from the PL headquarters building by his testicles with a heavy weight attached to each leg.

Now we know the 5 relegated teams filed a successful complaint for compensation against Everton months before the IC hearing, just in case Everton were guilty.

Does anyone know if any clubs have done the same against us ?, Does our IC also know about this before our hearing has even started ?, FFS surely it would prejudice their judgements ?

The Mail states Everton face being sued by relegated clubs resulting in administration, further 9 point deduction and relegation.

Ironic that these so called Fair Play Rules claiming to prevent clubs from getting into financial trouble, could lead to the financial ruin of an established club.

At the same time action against City and Chelsea could return one of the poorest run clubs in history, back inadvertently to the pinnacle of English football.

I can not help thinking that the Premier League is opening up a can of worms, backed by a fading cartel. In affect pressing the self destruction button as it attempts to cling to power, with Government interference adding to a malaise of confusion.

We may have reached the high point of the Premier League, as a financial entity and in global appeal. The age of legal action could be upon us, eventually seeing Financial Fair Play challenged legally as a concept.

Things likely to get very messy.

Maybe one day a World League will dominate, containing most of the best players. Financial Fair Play might be seen in the course of history as an almighty own goal by the Premier League and UEFA.

I broadly agree. It's hard not to think it's politically motivated to create maximum damage.

Historically Stefan disregards all politics, innuendo, conspiracy theory etc irrespective of how much weight we might put on it and sticks to the legal interpretaion.

Agreed & that’s the difference between law & journalism.
