PL Clubs vote against anchoring but vote for SCR

Interesting that Matt Slater is reporting that both City and United flipped on the SCR vote:

I doubt any club that expects to be in Europe cared much about PL SCR.

Edit: No-one ever mentions that clubs in Europe still have to comply with strict UEFA loss limits. Everyone says SCR will replace PSR - yes, maybe for clubs not in Europe. But for the rest it still applies, although sanctions are pretty weak iirc.

I wonder what the initial opposition was, maybe something in the fine print needed amending?

I think short term (charges aside) it wont affect us because UEFA limitations are a lot harsher.

It only becomes an issue long term if UEFA get a lot more lenient and then power moves to bigger clubs abroad.

which will no doubt happen once tebas et al hear about todays vote

I'm surprised it even went to a vote, given that it was so comfortably defeated. The PL must have known that it was doomed to fail.
Wouldn’t be like the premier league to jump in with both feet over certain things without thinking it through first would it ..

Doesn't really mean much to the clubs in Europe though as UEFA squad cost is stricter.
And that’s almost the top half with the minor euro cups letting loads in and our extra UCLplace due to coefficient.
