Just read less than 10% of the plastic produced is recycled, very depressing, and yet people in the 1st world buy this water when there is perfectly good water coming out of the tap. We all need to play our part here, we can blame the supermarket but, we don't have to buy it.

(for the record, I don't drink bottled water, more a statement on the quality of tap water RN)

Imagine how many dirty hands have picked up individual loose avocados only to place them back amongst the pile, or sneezed on them!? Plastic is hygenic, and the public demands quality control regarding it's foods! It's not like these items have evolved a natural hygenic barrier against all outside impurities. :)

Fridge had a chilled water dispenser, through a fitted filter. We use glass bottles or metal drink containers. Stopped falling for the bottled water scam some time back.
 
Plastic is great stuff. Strong, cheap, has many uses etc.

For the water bottle example there's still plenty of places where there might not be access to either drinking water or water that actually tastes okay.

Also having multiple plastic bottles on a day out is preferable to having one big bottle as they're easier to transport in a typical rucksack with the bottle pockets.
 
Bottled water is one of my pet hates. Ban it, there's literally no need for it in the UK and not to mention it's ridiculously expensive anyway.

I've seen buggers nowadays filling their own water bottles with bottled water!
 
Put a deposit of a £1 per bottle if you return it you get it back, maybe that will stop the cunts dropping them everywhere. Going to my local park to walk the dog today after a 3 day back holiday weekend it will be full of them as the people who go over the weekends don’t give a fuck, every Monday is the same especially after a bit of decent weather. I tend to pick up stuff as I go round, I’d make a fortune if I got back £1 a bottle.

I don't ever remember eating a banana skin or avocado peel. They don't need wrapping.
 
As a family of 4, we tend to buy multi peaks of things like crisps and chocolates.
There aren't many things that piss me off more than the massive amount of packaging left when you get down to the last one that just gets chucked in the bin.
Must be a better way to package the items to reduce the waste.
(Yes I know I'm part of the problem for buying them in the first place).
