Plastic everywhere.

The world produces around 350 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. Estimates vary, but recent high-quality studies suggest that between 1 and 2 million tonnes of plastic enter the oceans annually. That means 0.5% of plastic waste ends up in the ocean.

That ends up in fish now though, so you are eating plastic!

I try to recycle every bit of plastic that goes through my house. They do not make it easy though. Some plastic you can't recycle for some reason, other bits can only go to a special recycler at the local supermarket. Sussing out whats what can be a real pain. I am personally all for less plastic.

When i was a kid you had fruit and veg behind those rubbery plasticky strips. Why can't we have them back? what was wrong with them. I remember the lady would regularly go around and give them a wipe with a cleanser. I get the irony they are plastic but they last for years. You put it in a small basket then the lady would wrap it in a brown paper bag for you after paying.

I like to watch the yt videos of machines and places that try to clean up their rivers now but they are so few. The amount they get out is beyond words. I can barely imagine how much shit we pump into the ocean daily. Personally id have keeping the crap out of the ocean as a high priority for every country.

That’s one of the problems at home what’s recycled and which isnt,me and the wife cant agree on some stuff. Maybe if a law came in that all plastic had to be recyclable it would make it a lot easier. My next door neighbour doesn’t recylcle her cardboard, probably one of the easiest ones to do. We are so far behind in this country, in the early 90s I lived in Germany, we had three different baskets for glass, clear, green and other, they had to be sorted or they wouldn’t take them, they recycled paper/cardboard and at the end of each street where large bottle banks in case you had too many (The drink a lot of beer). That’s the early 90s I don’t think recycling started in earnest over here for a good 10/15 years after i came back in 93.

Sounds like they had it sorted in Germany. Why we don't have similar only others know. Yeah if all plastics were recyclable that would be a bit of a start. Surely that is not beyong the ken of modern science.

We have recycle banks, you get 10c for a can or bottle.

The water at our work is absolutely rank
My water at home has all kinds of things in it and stinks to high heaven of chlorine ,no filtering that lot out , it is also very hard water. I use bottled water for drinking and recycle all of the bottles every two weeks
