Play off final 99

I jibbed in and got a front row seat near the corner flag (the end the pens were took in)

What a great day that was i looked around at 2-0 down to see woman kids and grown men crying and at 2-2 i looked around again and everyone was still crying but this time with joy!

was it just me or did we have some great fun in the old 2nd div?

What a memory.

I wanted to to go at 2-0, I felt sick and really gutted but my mate wouldn't leave.....thanks Dave.

When Kev scored Dave said "If we can get one, we can get two"

When Dickov scored I cheers so loudly I thought I'd damaged my lungs. The next day my chest hurt because of that scream!!!!!

What a day!

I echo that scream and suprisingly Dickov's picture and face echo's it too.

It was a primeval scream, deep from within, like all the hurt and pain of the years had been banished....mirrored at the final whistle in the cup final.

It was a dour dull game, awful weather as well.I remember the feeling of utter misery as Taylor hammered that second goal into City's net with a few minutes to go.Disbelief that once again our 'Big day' had gone wrong and we had fallen flat on our faces.Typical City.

All around me people were shellshocked.Heads slumped in hands, white faces, utter silence except for the odd curse.I remember looking at the Gillingham end celebrating.A club that struggled to get 8000 fans had now suddenly found 45000 and they were mocking us.Something stirred.....anger....people got up.....started singing...shouting.Horlock zipped one in.....we got louder.....suddenly the Gillingham end was silent....you could sense their fear.

Everyone was asking the same question.....''How long's left??'' Nobody had seen the board, nobody knew.We were all almost falling on to the pich, screaming City on as the whistles grew from the Gillingham end to finish the match.I swear when the ball fell to Dickov's feet time stood still.A collective intake of breath,a second that seemed to last a lifetime.I never even remember him kicking it,i just saw the net bulge and i have never seen or experianced a goal celebration like it in my life.Utter delirious, delicious bedlam. The rest is history.Typical City indeed.

I remember a silence after the Dickoff goal, for a moment the world stood still and then an explosion of joy that I have never before experienced or seen in over 40 years watching Gods football club. It was the day we started an upward curve and now we are walking in Fields of Gold

Exactly right mrt4919!! For a split second that seemed to last an eternity there was utter disbelief thet the ball had hit the net before bedlam ensued all around.
