It's been absolutely disgraceful, I know it's a minority but it's been very vocal. It's a joke that people can support players when they're winning and then abuse and racially abuse them when they're losing.

Good to see that a lot of decent people are rallying around the players.

Just thought I'd share some of the messages and posts that give you a bit of hope.

Social media abuse needs tackling and anonymity doesn’t help

what about some sort of system that looks you to verify tour account but have a secret screen name. You do something illegal you get reported

you could also allow people to post without identity variation but configure so that verified users never see their posts as a result. These people are after attention so this would starve them of that?

Anonymity is a fig-leaf the SM platforms use to excuse inaction. Keeping your online self anonymous is pretty hard and if there was a real will to track down the offenders they could be found.

It would be very simple to find anybody, globally, if they really wanted to, everything leaves a signature.

Personally, I wouldn’t advertise what they’ve done, instead pinging the individual about CoC, tell them the account is frozen and then give the details to the authorities to take criminal action, ie. the unexpected knock on the door.

It may not work in certain places but would certainly work in many.
 
It’s a very small minority but they make a lot of noise. It’s sickening. I have seen one instance of it at the Etihad and the bloke who said something almost got lynched. The social media platforms need to start providing the IP addresses of these people and arrests need to be made with severe penalties being dished out.
