It’s a very small minority but they make a lot of noise. It’s sickening. I have seen one instance of it at the Etihad and the bloke who said something almost got lynched. The social media platforms need to start providing the IP addresses of these people and arrests need to be made with severe penalties being dished out.

Big tech could solve it very easily , all social media accounts need to be verified on creation , perpetrators of racist posts could then be easily traced and punished

Why are the media solely focussing on the fact that there was racist abuse which it has been established has come mainly from abroad? Don't get me wrong it is disgusting and totally unnecessary.

However, I'm sure many of us have seen the videos of England fans kicking the shit out of Italian fans before, during and after the game and storming the gates is also disgraceful.

Why is this not getting as much airtime? It is equally important IMHO These fans that are physically assaulted most likely dont earn £250k+ per week. The actions of these fans has probably cost England hosting or co hosting another tournament in my lifetime.

I think this a good idea. However perhaps we can detect the scum at the moment. Not sure.

The same reason why the social media sites won’t take strong action as it creates £$€.

The more abuse that is allowed, the more engagement there is and more ads get seen which in turn makes more £$€.

That’s papering over the cracks and doing nothing to solve the problem.

Two things need to happen firstly trace the scumbags who post the racist social media abuse, name and shame, charge them and fine them a substantial sum circa £5k each. Secondly fine the social companies a few million, who are unable to regulate their own platforms. It would cease overnight.

Southgate said that analysis of previous posts showed they came from outside of the UK. Not sure it is much consolation but maybe a bit of a different perspective on it?
