Look, the monthly vote is for player of the MONTH, not 'who's been our best player so far this season'. You will undoubtedly get your chance to vote for player of the SEASON at the end of the season.
I base my vote on who has been the best player in the games that Ric puts down under the list of contenders for that month, not in the previous games that season, how well they have improved, who's my favourite, who's scored the best goal or done something outstanding in one game. For this reason a player will have to have played in the majority of the games that month and been influentiel in their position. I thought that was the general idea of player of the month.
You could argue that David Silva and Adam Johnson are most skilful players. If they are not creating opportunities for themselves or others to score in a particular game then no matter how skilful they are they have not been effective. If the strikers are not scoring, holding the ball up or laying it off for someone else then it's the same.
