Its already been posted that Tottenham want Petrov and want to do a player plush cash deal. Reports say it's David Bentley.
However The Incredible Twitch has stated that he expects Aaron Lennon to be "moving on" in the summer.
I fully expect Petrov to go this summer and i'm guessing it'll be Tottenham he chooses, TBH i'm not really that fussed - it means we can look for someone who will help out Wayne Bridge (or Phillip Lahm [fingers crossed]) in the defending department.

Simple question - Would you guys rather have David Bentley or Aaron Lennon?

I don't want us to sell any decent players to our rivals, Spurs especially. It's almost certain that Petrov will want a move but I'd give him a choice of back to Europe or any team in the bottom half or stay and fight for a place. In fact I'd loan him out to Wolves rather than sell him to Spurs. Unless they wanted to give us Palacios.

I would also try to convince him to stay based on the fact that though he may not start all games, he'll certainly be brought on often enough, which will give him the opportunity to do his best with fresh legs. And he knows he's got the support of the fans so he could become a legendary super sub.

TBH, i like him but if he is miserable and unhappy as people say he can fuck off as giving spurs a player from our 2nd XI isnt exactly terrible. id rather take lennon + $

When did he say that?

Of the two I'd prefer Lennon, but don't think either would be great signings.

petrov is nearly a world class player...we should keep him, when hes fit he should definatley get in our first team.

play midfield of this:

petrov--------------------swp
------ireland---robinho------
------------de jong------------(or zabaleta/new dm capable of being a lone dm)

i know you will all say that we will buy new midfielders that will probobly kick out ireland and petrov and maybe de jong, but i dont think midfield is the area we need to improve, all we need is a new back 4 or 3 new defenders and keep kompany in there, and a new striker or two, then some young players like bojan, dont go mad straight away, let petrov get back to fitness and play him next season, then replace him at the end of 09/10 as he gets older.

5 goals and 9 assists in 34 games is quite good for a 30 year old, and a few of those were match savers.

so without petrov we would have scored 14 less goals. petrov had a scoring effect in almost half his matches, from midfield (well, sort of midfield)

hes also a trier, i only saw him give up in one match, when he got a hamstring injury so he didnt chace the pass.

Spurs are big rivals, we shouldn't be selling them anyone who is half decent unless we're getting a star in return. If we were to do a straight swap or plus cash deal surely we'd want a player who plays in a position we actually need? A striker? A central defender? A left back?

Gareth Bale for example, would make sense. Pavlyuchenko would be good. maybe even Darren Bent.

Unfortunately, because of Bentley being a MH bum chum we'll probably sign him.

TBH, MH got bentley in the england frame, and got the best out of him. if he can get him on the form he was on at blackburn i wouldnt mind him
