Player thread: Fernando (2014/15)

Good but limited player.

In his specific role, holding midfield of a trio, Fernando is very good. In a midfield two, he often looks a little lost simply because he isn't suited to it.

Some players like James Milner can play in a variety of roles and do a job in each one. But some players like Fernando can only play in one specific role and struggle to adapt to a different one. Both good players but very different.

Anybody knows if Song and Kherdira would be free agents this summer?
If so, maybe we should release Fernando for a sum and go for one of the above
I'd prefer to have Song, though

Khedira, Song and De Jong are all currently free agents this summer.

I'd be looking to get Khedira in for Lampard and 1 of the others to replace Fernando - wages/signing on fee permitting.

We don't need 2 DM so as good as I think Schneiderlin is I think the money (25-30m most likely) may be better spent elsewhere (eg. Bale + Pogba)

Khedira is good enough to win a La Liga title and a World Cup.
He'd be plenty good enough coming into the squad alongside top level stars like Pogba and Bale. You need a high stamina workhorse like him and he's free. Being a free agent doesn't makke you a poor player.

Does the fact he's free increase his ability as a player ?

We need players that will definitely improve the first team.

£50 to charity says the highly paid professional football people that run our club don't go anywhere near him and that he won't sign for us next window.

He's signing for bayern mate but it was more the fact that on a free people would turn him down.
