Player thread: James Milner (2014/15)

He might have played quite a bit this season but if Nasri had been fit he wouldn't have played as much. He definitely knows he won't play as much next season if we get our targets in, as the positions he occupies (wide left/right and (in his mind) CM) are the positions we're looking to strengthen.
Would have been nice to have got a fee for him but I hold no grudges. He has worked damn hard for us over the span of his contract and whilst he may have only been a squad player he did make his mark on the club and fully deserved his medals, tho they will be his last.

WHY! You just wouldn't take a step back and join Liverpool from playing for trophies to playing for midtable and Europa league. Now to sort out our replacement.

great player and so underrated at city give his all for the club and played were ever the manager asked we will miss him city and its only when you start to miss players you turned to for help when injury to players start to happen you say I should have not let milner go

Seriously some of the comments here...you bemoan when players are not 'loyal' and don't give a shit about the fans...yet as soon as a player who has been a fantastic signing for us...decides he wants to move on to pastures new...he gets completely slagged off

Can we not just have a bit of common decency, thank the lad and move on...

I agree with this. I'm surprised by some of the comments, he played his part in our success, he hasn't caused any drama for the club to get a move. It's a clean break for both parties. I wish him well.

Just wanted to ask the question.....should City have sold Milner last season to stop him going on a "free".....?

As I said earlier in the thread, I believe that because of the Champs league and spending restrictions, City's hands were tied
If those things weren't in place we would have sold Milner and sourced a replacement

I like Milner he is like the model pro that achieved his way to the top feom hard work. Now he is throwing that away to play in a posistion he isnt very good in I just hink he is a twat. Before anyone gets at me I am grateful for what he did for he club and what he achieved I just hink he has blown it all for fuck all in his prime

Milner has not gone for football reasons, good luck to him just a shame things couldn't be sorted .

What will his wages be like? Don't see any report. Usually when City are buying free agents like Sagna last year, it's all over the place, mostly also with some added figures. :)

I guess with the sign on fee his incomings wouldn't be worse than what he have been paid here. I still find it strange though why he wanted to play that much in CM, why he couldn't wait a season or two.
