For me the problem with Kompany is his captaincy and not so much his form.

As a captain he offers nothing. Nice guy and clean living fella he may be, but a leader and inspirer of flagging team mates, he most certainly isn't.

It's time Joe Hart was given the captaincy and Kompany handed an ultimatum to lose a stone and get his game back.

Not sure of Joe as captain, but the rest is bang on. Though some will castigate you. Not been the same since his new contract, never seen a captain in him.

Is he masking an injury that he is worried could impact his career? I have no idea but at this stage I trust Malanga more.

Yaya for captain he is the only one I see actually bossing and pushing players on the pitch. Notice the 5 nil on his return.

Is kompany still recovering from injury,or carrying an injury or is it something else altogether like something in his personal life,as he definitely is at the moment a shadow of the player last season...

And how do you come to that conclusion when most players and pundits think he is a natural leader and good captain

He may legitimately need a rest for a couple of matches. Who knows if he was completely recovered from his earlier injuries when rushed into matches last month.

However we need to find our back four that work though because changing around every match or so is certainly not doing any favours especially because as far as CBs go Mangala and DiMichelis both offer a different style of partner to VK.

I agree, his captaincy isn't a problem, what is is his poor positioning, which happened on numerous occasions last night and his constant diving in, which played right into Barcelona's hands. He's been like this for a long time now.

Welcome back Diddy.......

Perhaps the point is that he was, as he did so successfully by leading by example, due to his excellent form.
Is he now a couple of yards slower, and so not in the positions he should be, so he's having to over-stretch, dive-in, grapple etc to compensate?

Yaya is the natural choice in lieu of VK.
He has shown his leadership qualities by leading his nation (Ivory Coast Captain) to the African Cup.
He has CL, PL etc. pedigree too.
Most of us here were glad that he is back to help us on our winning ways.

I say let Yaya have his cake and eat it too!!!

i.e. to those who (parochial or ethnocentric City fans sorry to say) are not cognizant of his CV. ;)

2 years ago he was the best centre half in the world.
Now he isn't even the best centre half at city.

Been poor for a while now - was he world class last year? Not for me he wasn't.

Think he is a very good captain for when things are going well, but at times I wish we had someone more like Keane (but not as much of a twat) who would let team mates know when they needed to pull their finger out.
