Re: David 'Merlin' Silva appreciation thread

You only have to look at other fans' forums to work out how good he is. Universally rated he is, with many saying he's the best player in the league. In fact on Rag Cafe they were saying him and Aguero are the best two players in the league and someone chipped in and said Silva, Aguero and Yaya are the best three.

It's a national disgrace this man has never even been nominated for Player of the Year.

He was on a different planet to frauds such as Ozil.

Fabregas will get his reminder next week, you know, where you couldn't get within five yards of Dave over two games last season?

For that matter, neither did Xavi or Iniesta.

Will establish himself as our greatest ever player during his next peak years.

A privilege.

He's already the greatest City player in my lifetime.

The best player in the premier league bar none.

And in mine, mate.

Some want to argue the toss that Yaya is that player, but Silva will leave no Blue in any doubt when he finally decides to call it a day.

I just think it is fantastic that we have two players in the same team battling it out to take Colin's crown. Dave may well prove to be the winner because he, ultimately, has a longer City career than Yaya but you both undervalue Yaya, IMLTHO. I could care less in the final analysis: love 'em both.

This being a Dabe thread, it is fair to say that he does not get enough credit away from the club; at least, not in this country. Could not comment on how he is perceived in his homeland. A good example of the lack of respect here was all the fawning over Wilshite yesterday.

I particularly enjoyed Dave's movement yesterday and the fluidity of how he receives a ball and then uses it. Shame he did not mange to bag a goal with his right foot. Indeed, his one glaring flaw is not scoring enough; there's hope there: Yaya had his best goals scoring haul at a later time in his career and I think that was in no small part down to him working on that aspect of his game.

Interesting you should say that because I think he's the most talented player in the league, and has been for years. He doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves outside of the club though in my opinion. The fact he didn't even get in the PFA team of the year last year is just ridiculous.

He's a model pro, as well.

Not an insignificant point by any means.

We have arguably the best two attacking players in the league, in aguero and silva, and they are both model pros; no trouble, sporting and committed.

Utter bollocks... Silva is crap. We need to get that Jack Wilshire, Tom Cleverly or the Liverpool youngster Steven Gerrard. They are proper players - I read so in the Daily Mirror.

Brilliant footballers, brilliant professionals.

Would both walk into any side in the world and could easily try and use that as a way of leveraging a move - if either ever gave the slightest indication of being unhappy, Bayern, Barca, Real etc. would be all over them. Even during what seems to have been a pretty unhappy time in 2012/13, their commitment has never wavered. Attitude on the pitch is fantastic as well - tough but fair, and both play with genuine bravery and never go missing.

Privilege to watch them play week in, week out.

I bet he got the banhammer down on his head!

My favourite player. Great on the ball. Put's in a shift off it too.
