A bit perplexing that he's a Txiki purchase, yet you can't see him playing under Guardiola in any shape or form. Perhaps Txiki recognised the need for physical centre backs in this league, not just technical midfielders. Either way it will be interesting to see that develop next season. Given Kompany's injuries, regardless of how much it scares the crap out of everyone, I think we're best off just telling him and Otamendi they're first choice and let them get on with building a partnership without the pressure of being dropped, and start again in the summer.

You say that and there's other recent posts, albeit thoughtful ones, criticising him in possession yet his pass completikn stats are easily the best of our defenders this season. Only Delph and Sergio of current regulars have better completion stats (Nasri, obviously, does too but he has barely featured). The problem is that he is not elegant on the eye, he has that Bambi on ice quality and it is the one in ten passes that he fails with that people remember.

What I remeber about him from yesterday were two instances where he brilliantly wriggled away from opponents putting him under pressure when he was on the ball. In fact, since he arrived, he has done some good things on the ball that very few centre backs in this league could emulate.

Managala's problems are all in his head; not his boots. Oh, and getting exposed by his midfield colleagues...

I don't think Txiki bought him just because of his physicality but because he is a rare combination of physical and technical ability. Managala also seems like a bright guy so as a perhaps one issue he has is thinking too much. I wonder if a loan away might take some pressure off and allow him to add greater composure to his game?

I don't know if he will ever properly settle into it at City but I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Sell him - I've stopped waiting for him to become a smarter defender. Sorry, I have no more patience with him.

Some games he looks good and some games horrible. Definitely not helped by the system we play in, but whether he'll be good enough in a better system is still questionable.

He's good against lumps like Costa & Fletcher, but will struggle more against people like Vardy up next.

I think there is time to improve Mangala. He has the basics just needs to when to try and win the ball and when to hold back and defend. All our centre backs try to win every ball even when they know they wont and go jumpping in. Our defenders need to be more smarter and not go for everything. A slight change here and there and we will be good even without Kompany. We lack a leader in the defence. I would do everything to get Zabba back into this team a real leader and a proper defender too when the going gets tough. I just hope that once he is back we will be a solid unit while Kompany is out. I dont rate Sagna that highly just think we need to be looking at bringing in a new right back I would try and get Coleman in as he offers a lot bot defence and attacking wise than Sagna and would be a starter.

Talking of leaders i am watching the game back and nico is the one barking orders but for some reason mangler is not responding as well to him as he does vinny. We have no choice but to hope they come good as a partnership

The thing i cant get out of my head both played together at Porto but for some reason there is little or no pairing as of yet between them and understanding of each others games.

good move by manuel bringing ottamendi off and not mangala, like it or lump it we are going to have to rely on mangala a lot , bringing mangala of may have completle destroyed his confidence
