I'd love him back, aswell as being a CB I reckon he'd be a better option in Midfield than Fernando or Delph, has fantastic vision and dribbling
Really - a better option in midfield? You need to give your head a wobble - and you obviously didn't go to the Norwich game. Fernando was good: Delph was very good. Part of this might be attributable to the fact that, for a change, we fielded a balanced team.
I disagree that you can just bring in a young centre half, totally inexperienced at the top level, and play him in central midfield. It would be hard enough for him at centre half, with the formations that Pellegrini likes to put out. If he does well in his normal position, fine, but, central midfield in the premier league - or champions league? We had our miracle in May 2012, and I don't expect another one any time soon.
I'm all for bringing him back, but, don't expect too much.

Much as I love the guy, we have to face facts that he's finished. We simply cannot persist with a player who is regularly injured as much as he is:
2011/12 = 07 games missed - Champions
2012/13 = 12 games missed - 2nd
2013/14 = 10 games missed - Champions
2014/15 = 13 games missed - 2nd
2015/16 = 11 games missed - 3rd (18 to go)

If there is no option to cancel the loan, its an absolute fuck up. Vinny has been having fitness problems for a while, demi is old, mangala was poor last season and ota is new to the league. Its hardly unimaginable that we could have possibly been in an even deeper hole defensively than we currently are, so to have a ready made replacement for vinny and not have an option to bring him back is incompetent at best. If one of those had broken their leg, we would have to go out and buy another defender, therefore pushing denayer even further back when he does return, none of it makes any fucking sense tbh.

Season long loans just don't include recall clauses. You wouldn't get a half-decent club to agree to that and I'm pretty sure finding a decent club for Jason was a top priority.

There is an element of hindsight about this. The prospect for Denayer at the time was to be 4th or 5th choice and probably get very little game time. Not attractive from his viewpoint.

Even if he returned now he would probably be on the bench most of the time, third choice behind Ota and Martin, dropping to fourth on Mangala's return. And that' s discounting Vinny. If I were him I'd rather complete my season in Turkey and renew my City relationship in the close season. By that time we will probably have a new manager, said goodbye to Martin, and maybe formed a long term view about Vinny and Eli.

Nail on the head.

Understood and possibly another reason it shouldn't have been a season long loan then. This kid was in hot demand at the time, there were a few teams vying for his loan, albeit admittedly on a season long deal, I'm pretty sure a team like ac Milan for instance who have a shockingly bad centre back pairing, would have been interested. 6 months and see how we are, if he's not getting game time or if we need him desperately then we take him back.
As it is, he's playing in a poor league, although he's getting champs league, has had to shift to right back to accommodate others, and has picked up niggles. It just seemed like it was all rushed without any foresight or thought.

It might just be that Denayer doesn't want to come back half way through a season to be less than third choice when he can get some much needed experience in the starting eleven of Turkeys biggest team. It also seemed like he was pretty pissed off after signing a new contract and being promoted to the first team to then be fucked over by us signing another centre half for over £30m and sending him on loan. Signing Otamendi was an awful decision by the club.

I'd prefer to say plan around him and assume he'll be missing for a substantial chunk of each season. That's imperative, given his injury record and its trend. But to write him off as finished would be premature.

To use a cliche, plan for the worst but hope for the best.

I boarded the Denayer hype train long ago, it's too late for me. I genuinely believe he can be that good.

I admit I terribly worded the second part and I should have said 'long term' - as that was my thinking as I typed, my bad. I think he has all the aspects to his game that Pep will fucking love and mold him into an elite player.

And nope I wasn't, though that is certainly good to hear. I hope your right about it being a balanced team.

I didn't know Denayer had missed so many games........

....or wrong thread.

There is absolutely no way to know he is finished. Lots of players have had troubling, lengthy injuries that they have got over and continued to have a long career. We simply won't know if he is perma crocked until next season at the least so for you to claim it as a fact is laughable.

Are you his mum?

Because otherwise I don't see how you can possibly say "it seemed like he was pretty pissed off" as the kid himself said nothing of the sort publicly.

Didnt his agent say a few things about it?

in a cup game. so what ? i think a very talented youngster deserves a start so do most city fans. i kinda agree, but if they weren't injured he wouldn't rotate the players.

Lol, there's always a 'but that doesn't count' with you if it doesn't suit your agenda.

And yes, you do have an agenda. Everybody is very bored aware of it.

Apologies bud, I think I made a booboo and mixed you up with a similar name, sincere apologies.

As sad as it is to say I think our club should presume Vinny won't play a major part for us again. That means in essence that Otamendi came in to replace him, so recall Denayer and have Otamendi, Denayer, Mangala and MDM to choose from. replace MDM next season.

if Vinnie makes it back - great!! But counting on it leaves the defence pretty thin.

Why don't you prove it was Pellegrini's idea? You're always keen to demand proof of other people, yet never offer up any of your own to back up your accusations against Pellegrini.

I have no proof it's Pellegrini. It's my opinion, which I have deduced from various things. I think I'm right, but am happy to be proved wrong, as I've said many times. But I don't understand why I have to defend having an opinion, against you, or anyone else.

If you don't agree, give a case for why that is.You think you are going to stop me voicing an opinion on stuff like this, when I told everyone pre season exactly how I thought it was likely to pan out, got hounded for it by teams of Pelles Witnesses, have stuck to it ever since & now it appears I was correct ? I'm going to just quieten down because it suits people who don't agee ?

Why not just discuss football, rather than discussing me ? Much more interesting for everyone else.
