Also worth mentioning, he was played on the left, which is probably his "worst" or most unnatural position. So this in addition to the situation he was thrown into and the fact he was still able to quietly impress spectators, is a very good sign.

He had a decent game by his standards yesterday considering the circumstances. You could see he was playing it safe most of the time, but you got glimpses of the threat he can pose with his vision and directness. His link-up with the other players was almost impeccable considering he has only had 2 trainings and had to come into an unusual situation with 2 (or even 3) key players missing. I think the most important thing is that you can see that once he settles in (and I expect that to be sooner rather than later) and gets more confident to try things he will be great. What are the chances he will start on tuesday?

I can't imagine a scenario where he doesn't. Navas over him? It was there for everyone to see yesterday that the level in quality b/w the two are oceans apart.

Saw enough in the 2 passes to Navas and Toure, that him and Silva now mean it will be nearly impossible to play a high line against us - the way Barca always try to do. If we have runners they'll get found.

If we can push the Barcas of this world back just a few metres, the difference could be huge.

Nearest since Colin Bell we have had in terms of performance, role and the team dynamic.

Promises to be a truly all time great. Yes, I saw Bell debut at Derby. Like Sterling and Delph he takes us up a level.
