To even insinuate luck is crazy. De Bruyne has his own free kick technique which he uses every time. Powerful dipping shot impossible for the GK to read or react to. No luck involved.Basicly the question with the free kick boils down to wether it was luck or Skill. Im used to have to wonder that regarding the special ways Kdb often scores in, the answer tends to be that its Skill rather than luck. Or to put it differently, if all his goals of that nature would be luck, then well a lucky player is also good to have. ;)
That close to goal it's literally impossible to make it touch the goal line. He may have preferred the ball it bit more to the corner but the dip right under the cross bar was defo intended.I agree, i really think the ball landed exactly where KDB wanted it to.
He prefers taking his free kicks so that the balls dips so low, it touches the goal line.
But because there was a defender in the goal, this would have been very easy to stop. But by placing it between the defender and the keeper, it becomes a tough save.

My oppinion is that the ball was too fast for the keeper or defender to stop and it did look like that in replay.
Neither was that defender there tot block his keeper, there was a reason for it that must have made soms sense, KDB freekicks are a bitch tot defend from.
If you watch the City v Hull game of a couple of seasons ago you will notice a defender standing in a similar spot when Yaya took (and scored) a free kick from a similar position. The defender is there to make an emergency save in case his keeper doesn't reach, never the other way around.
Goalkeeper is boss on his goal line. You don't make it as a professional GK if you rely on your defenders to do the saving for you.
Ball was just way too fast and a dipping curve impossible to anticipate on. Comparable to that legendary FK of Roberto Carlos against France but then a vertical curve instead of horizontal.
