Player Topic: Navas.....

Pep will love him hard working dribbling ball retention player.

I think Pep could turn him into a right back, full backs main priority under his system is to attack. Dani Alves plays most of the game in the opposition half.

Love Navas for how he gets up and down the pitch, however when your on the break don't beat your man and end up dribbling the ball back to the half way line like he did yesterday it shows he's limited and needs upgrading.

Could he be converted in to a right-back, there may be a vacancy for him if he does.

I can see this under Pep.

Yesterday he was doing a hell of a lot of covering and also putting some good challenges in. Fantastic stamina and for a small guy he does not go missing when the boots are flying.

I hope not. Have you seen Nasri's pass completion and dribbling completion stats? They are way above any of the other players you mention. Certainly not a player to ditch in pre-season. I think Navas will be a good squad player. One to bring on in last quarter of game against a tired defence.

Agree nasri a top player but his stats dont show how slow he makes those stats up, for me he stays but speeds up his play.

No end product because of others poor efforts and the fact his leg needs breaking and resetting. I'm not his biggest fan but my he puts the effort and heart into his game. Without him we would of been much worse off this season, and boy have I bagged him in the past. I would give him a 6.5 on his season and he is in the top 3. Reliable in a crock of apathy.

not just him though. How many times this season have we seen our forward line come to a complete stop in the final third and pass it around sideways. Nasri will adapt because it will demanded of him to do so in the new Pep set up. I think he'll come good.

Yep Silva in the same bracket for killing a game when on the break but thats Pellegrini making possession more important.

KDB is the most direct of them all and I think for that reason pep will build around him. That said, both Silva and Nasri are too good to let go. Silva has had a poor season by his standards but I think that's due in no small part to his ongoing ankle injury.

I just don't think he is the brightest tool in the box, Navas that is.

Off the pitch, he seems to be incredibly nervous

He will stay. An absolute top professional who works his socks off. Pep will get more out of him, of that I have no doubt.

The thing is at right back he'd still need to be able to produce a good final ball, which he can't. Plus whilst you don't have to be 6ft plus to be a full back, you do need a bit of strength, Navas is too light weight to play at the back in my opinion.

He obviously missed Dzeko and Lampard for their ability to be in the right place for a tap in. Aguero, often peels back to the edge of the area, particularly when Navas has the ball (the home game against Chelsea being the best example).

Good! He needs to stay. A good plan B. Stick a striker in the box who wants to get on the end of crosses and Jesús would be fine

I think so too,it worked with Negredo on the end of the crosses,he gives us speed and doesn't lose the ball, defends well, pep just needs to give him some more confidence in himself and bingo

really want him to go tbh, find him a really tedious player to watch play football, lacks ideas to a comical degree. That said I acknowledge he's one of the few players we have with a good work ethic and see why that might be valued. Was hoping he'd get replaced though.

We can't replace everyone in this window,he will get more confidence with pep and we can spend elsewhere this summer,he might be 30 but he is still as fast as a youngster

Yeah essentially agree would rather see the centre midfield get the surgery it needs and deal with Navas for the last year of his deal and then improve on him the following summer.

That said would expect him to feature a lot less than he has done in the last couple of seasons

Don't forget Navas gives the team a better balance.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see Navas end up as our right back. Honestly.
