Players are written off way too quick in English football (players who have turned it around)

Clearly wasn’t at our level, but I read yesterday that Aleix Garcia is one of the best performing players in La Liga this season. Girona are flying.

Yes you are correct, Players do get written off far too quickly in today's game along with opinions on players changing on a weekly and monthly basis by pundits on TV.

Today's society are thick as shit, The majority of people can't have their own opinion, They just listen to the likes of Neville, Carragher, Redknapp, Keane ect and say what they say...

Anyway a few players you've mentioned the likes of Bissouma he's a class act, Some players are suited under different managers and style of play which Bissouma is a big example of that playing under Conte and not working out now he's in a much more free flowing team that's energetic and loves to play football.

I read @jimharri post about Stones which is also correct, I still listen to people saying "he's not that good" ect...Really?

Either that or I'm a deluded **** because I wouldn't take any other centre back in world football over John Stones, Not one other centre back can do what he can do right now and on top of that not only is he incredible at dropping into midfield but he's a monster of a centre back reading danger.

Same when players pick up a few injuries. I'm convinced Kieran Dyer will play a full season soon.
Now that you say that about injuries, How good would Michael Johnson have been with City!

You're post just shouted out Michael Johnson to me. I'm convinced he would have been better than Gerrard (same type of player) I know it's a big statement to make because Gerrard was a fantastic midfielder.

I thought Lakey was better but it's a shame we never found out with either. Johnson was more self inflicted though in terms of career being short.

I know it's a different era, with football generally being played a different way now; more possession and "pass and move" rather than launching it to the big man up front and scrapping for the knock downs. But I'd love to have seen Johnson and moreso Lake, in a Pep team. It was a crying shame what happened to those two lads. Especially Paul, and the way his injury was handled by the club.

I think it's an English football specific thing, they never get given time until the critics pour in. Fans always looking for the shiny new toy. English teams are so rich they can all afford to blow 100M+ each window and write off expensive 'mistakes' where as teams on the continent will persevere with the players until they come good, as they can not afford replacements so have no choice.

(Big) New signings who were written off last year who are doing good this year.

Nunez
Cucurella
Sterling
Gordon
Bailey
Bissouma

Jury still out on

Anthony
Mudryk

You seem to be comparing the actual people who make football decisions at foreign clubs with people who chat about the English league on social media.

None of those players you list were replaced after one season. And I’m sure Italian and Spanish Twitter is full of fans giving new signings shit, who don’t immediately come good.
