We have a pretty shallow squad in terms of first team players (think it's 20 excluding Stirling and Ake and including 3x keepers)..

It's exciting that Cole will get more games, but which youngsters do we think will step up to bolster the numbers which we think are good enough?

It’s not shallow.We are at our maximum, plus Foden Mcatee and Palmer, we will be one short when Sterling goes so yes it’s good enough.

We're 2 short of max quota without Sterling, unless you're counting Mendy.

3 keepers, 4cbs, 3 fbs, 2 dm, 3 no8, 4 forwards. 19 total, 13 can only be registered in the "free" foreign quota, 6 would qualify for homegrown status of which were allowed a max of 4 with the other 2 taking the "free" spots to 15/17.

Foden is the only player that qualifies as club trained, one of 4 permitted, Palmer, Mcatee, Mbete and all other academy kids don't need to be registered.

Yes, I was assuming us bringing in a left back before the start of the season. So assuming that and we don’t replace Sterling we are only one player short of our maximum possible. So I don’t see us being one short of our maximum possible as being shallow, and as Foden he is the only player club trained we’ve had for years, but now an established fist teamer so no shallower than any other year.
