Did I mention I'd been on Eggheads?
Was thinking about shite strikers we had in the 80's the other day which made me think about starting this thread.

I recall in the 80's we had a few players that we bought and flogged within a few months, certainly before the end of the season - and not hard to understand as they were all bobbins!

Tony Cunningham (24 games / 4 goals)
Trevor Christie (bought by Billy McNeill and flogged 10 games / 3 goals later by Jimmy Frizzell)
Robert Hopkins (as above, bought by Billy Mac / flogged by Frizzell after 7 games / 1 goal)
Bill Williams (half a game as a sub and then went back to County as he wanted to be part time and continue his painting and decorating too)

Any other players who departed quickly? Not those who completed one full season and then left, but players actually signed and moved on within the season (not loaned out)

I thought we "bought"all of them but have to admit Ivd blanked Sinclair from my mind even more than the others(my therapist said I must try to) so you may be right on him.

There's two hour of your life you'll never get back.

In fairness, I had 8 hours to kill at JFK airport waiting for a flight to Boston...... there were quite a few other threads I thought about starting too ha ha ha

Always thought Duncan Davidson was a loan deal from Celtic but Wiki says not. Mike Walsh was a "permanent" signing who lasted just a few months, which was just as well remembering his performance when Blackpool knocked us out of the Cup at Bloomfield Rd. Amazingly it was they who then signed him from City.

I think Walsh's performance in the 5-0 at Newcastle is one I recall him most!

Just remembered another one, very controversial in the fact he was a decent player and crowd favourite...... Ian Bishop (first time round)
Bought by Machin in the summer and flogged in the Kendall sales by Xmas

Christie - definite signing (sold Mark Lillis as part of the deal!!!!)
Cunningham - bought for £100,000, sold for £75,000 less than 7 months later.
Davidson - definite signing. Had a viral infection then an old pelvic injury returned. Moved to Cove Rangers in in the Highland League.
Hopkins - my mind told me he was a loan, but I've re-checked and we did actually buy him! We swapped him, after a month, for Imre Varadi (worth £60,000 apparently!). Reason we got rid? He tried to get some more money out of us for his house move or so City claimed.
Johnson - yes, another signing, not a loan. Played 6 FL games and scored 1 goal before moving to USA.
Graeme Sinclair - a loan signing.
Walsh - a definite signing and sold to Blackpool for either £6,000 or £60,000 (my notes are not as clear as I'd like! I think it was £6,000!).
Williams - definite transfer and yes he did return because he was making more as a part time player and his decorating business than being full time at City!
