Players coming over at the end of the match

Agreed - if the fans cant be arsed - why should the players - most blues seemed to stay till then end last night - Joe got the best feedback as always - different when Vinny and Zab are on
Although away from home our fans don't act that way Our home support is absolutely shocking these days but that's a different subject.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't, completley depends on the circumstances and the context.

If it's about a group of football fans who've paid to enjoy themselves watching a football match then quite honestly there's nothing to thank them for.

Doubt they did seeing their side not get the win.

Regardless, it's common courtesy mate. Same way you hear artist thanking their fans for coming out and watching them. It's a sign of respect and alludes to some sort of gratitude for the support. It's crap that certain players can't even be bothered to show our club's fanbase atleast some gratitude to support them. Just shows that they don't have a connection with this club or its fanbase which sucks.

Respect is a two way process and it's no surprise fans are rushing out before the end as the players haven't bothered to engage with them with at least some acknowledgement.
This is where for me Culture plays a significant role as we can visibly see Joe Hart having that connection with us. He does engage with fans during matches.
It's not a coincidence as he's the only usual English starter (yes Raheem is English but he isn't exactly a long term player for us yet)

I had a lot of respect for the Juventus players when they beat us in Turin, when after the match they all came to the home fans stood to our right and acknowledged them.
This immediately had me thinking: I've just spent my hard earned travelling over here, watching these lads - like everyone else.... surely they could at least spend a few seconds of their time in acknowledging their support?

Similar to when we go to music gigs and the band will praise the audience.

Yes it shouldn't be "forced" on the players, but at least suggest to them to consistently do something like Juventus players do.

if Pogba can fucking do it, so can Yaya, Navas and all the rest of 'em.

Or are their ego's so inflated they feel above us?

They want more applause - maybe they should applaud us too.

Navas always goes over. as does mangala and kolarov, 3 players who get shite from fans all the time, Yes I think they should appreciate the fans having traveled, but would rather it was because they want to not made to.

Not really fussed, its all an illusion anyway you could probably count on one hand players that really care for the club and then you'd never really know with all the money rolling around.

What i would say though is they can't have it both ways, if you don't come over and connect don't get arsey when you get some grief when not performing.

I suppose how people react to this might depend on their age. Its a relatively recent thing. When I started watching football the only time that players did anything like this was the lap of honour after the FA Cup Final. Hence I'm largely indifferent to it. There have been games when there has been a spontaneous post match celebration between fans and players, such as after the last minute win at WBA a few years ago. That sort of celebration can be very enjoyable. But I don't give a monkeys about the routine ritual mutual clapping at the end of every game.

Maybe I differ, but for me, an away trip is, and always has been, much more than just the game itself, it's travelling with your mates, having a laugh in the boozer and general camaraderie. Of course, the match itself can make it one of those really memorable aways or one of those where the atmosphere on the way back is a bit more subdued, but, it's about the whole day. But you attend fully aware that it might not be your day, that's the deal, the contract if you like, so moaning when it doesn't go your way seems churlish to me.

Comparisons to the theatre or your local band are off the mark, they are completely different events, you love the music so it's almost nailed on your going to have a great time and the feedback to the performers is always going to be good. That said I've been to gigs where the crowd has been mental and you can see the band feed off it. I've also been to gigs where the audience is a bit flat and you can invariably see the effort/energy of the band suffers, but in the main your guaranteed a good time of some degree.

Personally I don't want the players to 'thank us' for attending. I chose to do that of my own free will and because I wanted to. What I do want the players to do is show their appreciation when we 'the fans' have given it our all vocally to back the team and they are genuinally appreciative of our support, but that's just me. If they don't do that then that's poor form.

Some fans mention on this thread a lack of solidarity and engagement from the players but how is that supposed to happen if players are getting slagged on forums, twitter and heaven forbid at the games themselves. You can't expect any player to feel a connection with the fans if they are getting slagged. Joe Hart is held up as a great example and I would agree but then he has very rarely suffered any abuse.

I always find it ironic how fans can moan about the badge, the catering, the manager, the players, pretty much every facet of the club, but woe betide any fan, like me, who dares to criticise the fans, they are the only thing that seem beyond reproach in many City fans eyes, but in my mind, it's time a lot of fans took a long hard look in the mirror...

Very poor response from the players Yeaterday. The majority waking off straight down the tunnel with only Cliche, followed by Hart and Sagna making a token effort.
