Players getting clobbered

Definite red. Didn't Rooney, quite rightly, get sent off for a similar tackle last year?

Dann has gone for his knee in a nasty swipe, when he could've easily just clipped his ankles and tripped him.

Needs looking at as we'll end up with lots of injuries this year.

At the inception of the Premier league it was stated the more skilful players would be protected, sadly this turned out to be the selective few. I think we all agree how dodgy this league is but that is the nature of business.
Wait till Otamendi gets started, it'll make Nige and Norman 'bite your legs' look like pussycats !

Definitely should have been a red but not as a last man. A season or so ago a red card was given for similar position and was overturned on appeal for being too far from goal. Can't. Remember who the player was. Dan's should have been interpreted as a kick and therefore a red. He had no chance of getting anything on the ball as that was well past him and even if the ball was there he was way too high to connect. Ref made an error of judgement.

Agreed I dont think any of us are bothered about "professional" fouls where they are just trying to stop play when they fear we are going to break through... that's a straight yellow and fair.

When they mess a professional foul up or get too forceful out of frustration and injure a player though, how can that be fair that they get to stay on the pitch and our players have to miss the next few games and also maybe take another few games to find their top form again? It's really disruptive(we would have had a close to peak Aguero for our first CL game and now we don't, we need to start making statements from the off in that competition) poor Silva's had it for years(think back to amount of times you've heard a manager say "David has picked up a knock and will miss the next game") Kun's have been more muscle injuries to be fair but this time it was down to a shitty tackle.

After the first couple of reds managers will give different instructions(be careful with your tackling, tackle clean and dont get sent off etc) and we'll see our players able to completely gel and up the level even further than we've seen before imo.

Players get kicked all the time. The Aguero one was bad, but you see tackles like that a lot, the problem was that he actually caught Aguero straight on the knee. Dan didn't mean to catch Aguero's knee, he just stuck his leg out. Like I said, it's part of football.
if he had stuck a leg out I could understand, take him out but no damage done, however you must be blind,he didn't stick his leg out he hacked at agueros knee,no trip ,that was a bad tackle,if Sergio is out for a length of time at least we and the rest of the prem league fans get to see scott dann week in week out, because Sergio could easily be out for some time.stuck his leg out my arse.i agree it is part of football,so are red cards.

I remember us playing Chelsea when they had some dirty cunts like Ballack, pretty sure we just bullied them and give it back 10x worse. Love it when our lads snap the cunts back they soon reign it in!

Unless I am going blind, he wasn't the last man.

Agree, should have been a red because of the intent to hurt Kun. Excessive force was used and that in the laws of the game is a red card every time.

Why are people going on about the last man? The last man is not the rule, it's if a goal scoring opportunity has been denied. Oh, Ian Cheeseman, who is getting paid to know about football, also used the 'last man' comment yesterday.

As soon as he got up he looked at the ref and held his hands up,as if to say yes ref a foul but I didn`t mean to harm him.Like like fuck you didn`t.Mind you when they broke from defence following our corner,Mangala could quite easily have received a red for chopping the lad down and he knew he couldn`t catch him.He also went off injured.

I wouldn't agree with 'hack'. Maybe it was more than sticking his leg out, I'll conceded that. I think Aguero has probably been hit harder, unfortunately this one caught him in a bad place. Hopefully it's just a knock and he'll be OK for Tuesday.

Manga a red? Don't be daft

It was a tackle that was deliberately meant to hurt Sergio no doubt imo. Aimed for the knee and got him.

I'm not so sure, the intent was to bring him down but I'm not sure he intended to go as high as he did, it was careless and reckless though so he could've had no complaints had it been red.

It was a desperate lunge to stop Aguero basically breaking and possibly scoring, for me it's a red as it was knee high and could have put Aguero out for months .
Hopefully it's a bang and to be honest I'm not sure it's the kick that hurt him as he landed on the same knee which could have done damage.

Also Mongala? did a professional/ridiculous foul and got a yellow.. so it was consistent. Sergio wasn't clean through 10 yards in his own half. Yellow was right.
It was violent play. SIckening challenge, totally deserving of a red.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He was past him and he took him out.
